What would be your top ten things to do for a newcomer to Munich? Yes, left wide open for all intentional purposes. tongue.gif
Keydeck
1. Use the search function on TT.
2. Use it again because you probably didn't try hard enough the first time.

Ha! You've been Keydecked! Sadly though, he is well and truly right.

#3 Don't mind Keydeck, he's just welcoming you. He is also quite right - you can find lots of stuff by searching.

That said, I'll give you a head start. Way back when I was a newcomer here (waaay back like April 2005) I started a topic you might now find useful: My first few days in Munich - what to do?

#1 Thanks.
#2 See number 1.

No worries, I like folks like this. Keeps it real!

For my other 8, I'll go with...

3. Drink a beer at the Hofbräuhaus. You'll probably not go there again after your first visit unless you have guests in town.

4. Make an effort to meet people. Locals, foreigners all of them. Any effort you make yourself will be rewarded.

5. Eat a Schweinhaxe at the Weißesbräuhaus in Tal.

6. Go to the KVR. Not to register or anything silly like that, just to wander around and breath in the stench of bureaucratic inefficiency.

7. Linked to #4 but more specifically, go to one of the regular TT events. Tuesday drinks, curry night, whatever. Go, introduce yourself, start to make your presence felt. Or if it's Christmas time, start to feel your presents.

8. Walk from Karlsplatz to Marienplatz and then on to Münchner Freiheit. It's a good walk and gives you a feel for the main commercial areas of the city.

9. Have a drink at Lenbach's and then go for a drink at Schwabinger 7. Then you'll be ready to find something in the middle that you actually fancy.

10. Buy Keydeck a pint when you see him in the pub. Your gesture will pay dividends.

'Course I'm right Leeza. I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken wink.gif

where you from in london?

Actually I'm from New York City. Wasn't looking for touristy things to do as I can always do that at some point. I'm sure I'll come up with my own top ten after a month or so. Keydeck, my KVR trip will be more than enough to get a good whiff of German life. Definitely looking forward to it. Making an entry is my forte. See you guys and dolls at some point. smile.gif
