Wooden toy shops

Suggestions in or around Munich

Hi,

One of the things that I like about Germany is the fantastic range of wooden toys available. However, I have difficulties finding a good wooden toy shop in or around Munich. Can someone help ?

We are looking for a wooden "spiel-garage" or a "parkhause" for our son. I know that we can get it over the internet, but delivery may not make it before Christmas.

Thank you in advance !! biggrin.gif

try Kunst und Spiel Leopoldstraße 48

I don't know if this is of any use, but there's one here in Freising, on the Ziegelgasse. Or at least there used to be; I'm afraid I don't really follow toy shop happenings much. I'm too old for them. I'll ask Iain, he walks down that street every day.

I'm on your side though; as soon as I have kids, that's exactly the kind of thing I'll be buying them.

there are a few different stands at some of the Christmas markets- TollWood, ChineseTower, and SendlingerTor. Not sure if they have exactly what you are looking for, but I did pick up a few things for my brother (he loves puzzles and such) and my nefew.

Kunst & Spiel in Leopoldstr. - is good but expensive.

Best we found over the years is the guy in Balanstr. (just near Rosenheimer platz S-Bahn between Rosenheimerstr & Simplicissimuss pub) - I think it's called "Spiel mit Holz". He's way cheaper then any of the others. The shop is tiny but crammed with wooden goodies. You can actually bargain with the guy and if he's in a good mood you'll win smile.gif If he doesn't have it he'll either make it or he can order it.

I know there is one down the Nymphenburger Kanal, down the main street to the SchloB.

Spiel mit Holz is a good recommendation.

Hertie (Hauptbahnhof/Stachus) also has quite a good selection of wooden toys in their toy department.

There were a fair few stalls at the Auer Dult.
Mainly railways and associated accessories, though, IIRC.

Edit: I just checked on the Internet: The next Dult isn't til the end of April, so obviously far too late for Yuletide. Might be an idea for a birthday present, though?

Have you tried looking at normal toy shops like Obletter (Karlsplatz)?
