Despite the fact that I was born in the early 70s and spent my teen years in the 80s, I have always been completely partial to 70s music. As a little girl and up into my teens, almost every Friday night my dad would come home from work and after dinner my little sister and I would join him in his study to listen to music from the 60s and 70s. It was the only time we got to stay up until 11 pm without our mother bothering us.

So music from the 60s always makes me think of my father but 70s music is even more nostalgic. It reminds me of my earliest years and sitting in my dad's GTO.

Is anyone else here a fan of 70s music?

Here are some videos to start:

Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

James Taylor Fire and Rain Written about a loved one he lost

James Taylor Sweet Baby James

Dan Folgelberg Heart Hotels not the best sound quality on that video, sorry.

Christopher Cross Sailing OK, I just have this one posted because of the guy in the video. Do any other Amis here remember him?! . I remember seeing him so often on TV growing up, but can’t remember his name.

Kansas - Carry on My Wayward Son

Boston - More Than A Feeling

One of (IMO) Britain's greatest classic 70s rock bands. I miss the rock jam during songs. I also miss calling a song a song, and not a track. I wonder when "track" started. Probably by producers.

Supertramp - School

Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger

Probably my favorite band of all time. And a London band (yikes) at that.
Here in a recent video with an earlier lineup reborn (an incredible collection of Brits):
* Jon Anderson - vocals
* Steve Howe - guitar
* Rick Wakeman - keyboards
* Chris Squire - bass guitar
* Alan White - drums

Yes - Roundabout (2004)

Yes - Roundabout (vintage 1972 version - Rocks a little more)

Chris Squire is an amazing bassist. HipHop can't touch this. Hollowback my arse.

I love the songs of Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot, especially his awesome 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald'. But when I heard 'Sundown' on the radio today it really brought back some fond memories of the Seventies.

Gordon Lightfoot - "Sundown"

Was born 1980, but I love 70s music. Growing up in Las Vegas was great for this - there are 3 classic rock stations on the radio.

Steve Miller Band - Jungle Love

I know it's more 80's, but I still love Rush:

Rush - Tom Sawyer

Hard to choose which of their songs to pick, but:
Journey - Wheel in the Sky

Bob Seger - Turn the Page

FuzzyTony
I must admit I was never really fond of Journey, but when 'Wheel In The Sky' was played on one of The Sopranos episodes I really got into them (somewhat belatedly, I know wink.gif).

Another artist whose songs I remember back in 1976-77 was Scottish-born Alastair Ian Stewart, better known as Al Stewart. Beautiful music and fine singing.

Al Stewart - "The Year Of The Cat"

Al Stewart - "On The Border"

Another timeless classic from the '70s:

Gary Wright - "Dream Weaver"

I love the songs of Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot,

So do I and thanks to PES you can enjoy "If you could read my mind", which is my favourite.
FuzzyTony
Yup, that's also a favorite I have in my collection.

And another great song from that decade that perhaps some people my age may remember:

Exile - "Kiss You All Over"

And one everybody should recognize biggrin.gif :

War - "Low Rider"

FuzzyTony
Ooh! More sweet '70s music videos. biggrin.gif

America - "A Horse With No Name"

Patti Smith - "Gloria"

The Doobie Brothers - "What A Fool Believes"
