Hello all,
I am moving to Hamburg at the first of the year with my new husband. I am allergic to dairy and also don't eat red meat. We presently live in California and I am used to many wonderful health food stores where I can get products like soy yogurt, veggie burgers and chicken sausages. Are there any stores around Hamburg that sell such things?

Loads of them, on every corner you find a "Bioladen", especially "Bio-Discounters" are getting really big here.
I prefer basic, the choice is really good, and it's all demeter-quality.

Another discounter would be Erdkorn.

We also have some "Ökomärkte" (markets selling fresh organic products) in Hamburg.
Depends on where in Hamburg you live, here's a list.
There's plenty of farms selling their own organic stuff.

Just google Bioläden, Biomärkte, Ökoläden, Ökomärkte, Biohöfe, Ökohöfe, Hofläden+bio etc. (+ Hamburg of course) - you get lots of hits, and can pick the ones closest to you.

Here's a few more links.

Effenberger is a chain of whole grain bio bakeries, couldn't find a hp.

Hope that helps.

You can also try the yellow pages

Look for "Reformhaus" and Hamburg, or type your post zip code to narrow the search.

I see from your profile your from Oregon, nice. Ptowner myself. Enjoy! Although no Natures or Wild Oats here finding vegan should not be a problem. Try the brand name Bohlsener Mühle out of Bohlsen Germany. I photographed there ( a friend works there) and they make a wonderful product and are very community minded. Again good luck and congrats!

I know, your question is a bit ago, but you have to see the Alnatura Supermarkt at the Hoheluftchaussee (since you are in Eimsbüttel, it's not far), it's the best I have seen yet, and the prices beat every other organic shop I have seen in Hamburg!

Thanks goodlife. I have been shopping at the Basic Biomarkt on the corner of Huessweg and Osterstrasse. They have a great selection even if the prices are a bit steep. (You get what you pay for.)

I like the Basic market too, but the prices are a rip off, you can get the exact same products cheaper at the Alnatura.
I only go to the Basic market when I go look for new products, cause they are the first to have them. And they were also the first to have the Elisen-Lebkuchen hehehe... oh, and the cake there (at the entrance) is yummy too.

Am looking for a shop that sells evening primrose capsules and other alternative medicines.

Works well for dry skin and excema.

Any idea where such a shop would be?

You could try any of the Reformhausen scatterred around the city, which are Bio-shops, or maybe even Budni will do it.

Hey Matt,

I am using prim rose oil capsules for many years now, first I paid a fortune by buying them in the Apotheke, but then I found a great online store via ebay, if you like, I'll pm you the link...
