English-speaking lawyers in Berlin

Hello all, can anybody recommend a very good english speaking lawyer in Berlin? Thanks

I know a very good tax lawyer but I'm not sure if that's the kind of lawyer you are looking for. Send me a PM if it is.

Sunny, maybe you could simply post up your recommendation anyway? Even if "orangerabbit" isn't looking for a tax lawyer, the info might still help someone else who searches and stumbles across this post in the future.

Have you tried searching www.martindale.com. It used to have a way to search by field of law.

I'll say right off the bat that Sonja is a friend of mine. I can vouch for her English speaking skills, fairness and professionalism. Sonja has done the taxes of some people I know and they were quite happy. She can also recommend other types of English speaking lawyers (criminal defense etc).

many thanks to both posters for your help and as it happens I do need help with Tax. Any further recommendations for lawyers would be most appreciated.

to add to the thread some related info: if a lawyer is needed, I think it's the rechsanwelt (?) who will give you a paper to take to a lawyer with legal help (the state pays for lawyers for some things).

And also bayoma house, is a good starting point. I think a lawyer comes in on friday. It's good to make an appointment a week ahead. 30 minutes, and I think it's 10 euros.

When looking for legal counsel in Berlin, I would advise you to first contact several lawyers, check their qualifications and experience, and arrange a call to describe the nature of the case and discuss payment before arranging your first meeting at their offices. Be sure to ask for a written schedule of fees in advance. Lawyers fees are strictly regulated according to German law (Bundesrechtsanwaltsgebührenordnung). In any judicial procedure the German lawyers must at least bill you for fixed fees that are set by German law.

I compiled this list a few years back, so I have no idea if the info is still valid or if any of these lawyers are reputable. At the very least, they all have experience in dealing with expats so hopefully this is a good starting point fro some of you...
