Its Illegal to cold call in Germany.. If you have the # report them to the Bundesnetzagentur.
Have a look at this link (PDF) for more info. and to report them.

I've also been getting lots of cold calls recently. Mostly from these robots doing surveys, but also from real people trying to sell something.

As soon as you ask them for their phone number, or to repeat the name of their company, they just hang up. And their number is always withheld.

I have an unlisted number

So do I, but it doesn't seem to have helped. Some company that I gave the number to has probably sold it on to the telemarketers.

@ MC
Huh, bad luck in this case... I usually just do not give my number to companies, sometimes my @ address if really necessary...

These Robocalls are seriously pissing me off. As you well noticed Scogs, they're on the increase. They usually block their ID so there is no way of reporting them unless you stay on the phone, answer "ja" and "nein" in the same manner as the Robocall and then finally agree to a sex change operation in Mumbai. Usually though, they call just when I am in the middle of something, usually yelling at the children to stop killing each other or making them something to eat.

If I get a phone call where the..."person" on the other end is a recording or the like, I always hang up. Can't be arsed to talk to a machine. If they can't respect me and my time enough to have a real person call me, I don't respond.

My parents (also living in Munich) get tons of them. What's the most annoying is that if the answering machine answer they fill up the machine in no time. I would love to hack the machines to constantly call the operators of the "businesses"

ps. they also have an unlisted number
