Travel from Hamburg to Drage

Hello everyone,
I will be landing in Hamburg on Monday afternoon. I was just told that my hosts cannot come for me to the airport
Can anyone suggest a cheap way for me to get to Drage? I understand that taking a cab will be at least 50 "bucks"

50 bucks - that sounds very optimistic.

I have lived on the West side for HAM for 25 years & didnt recognise the name.
In Wikipedia I found DRAGE (Nordfriesland)- population 581...
No railway station...

Its 5kms east of Friederichstadt (on the Eider)
and I estimate thats going for almost 1.5 hours drive from the airport.

It take us 1.5 hours to drive from where we are to Husum & thats only
a bit further than the Eider...

If you are going to return I'd say look to hire a small car but be prepared
for over an hour's drive after your long flight...

Taxi will cost you several hundered Euros I guess.

Update: There is a train service to Friederichstadt - so you'd have to
get from HAM to Hauptbahnhof (or Altona?) & then on train towards Husum...

There seems to be another Drage - in Niedersachen (not in Wikipedia) & this one
claims only to be 48km from HAM airport - but still a 1 hour drive in a SE direction.

So, verify which DRAGE you want (esp if you take a taxi!) otherwise you might
end up in the wrong DRAGE...

If I had this problelm, I would look up the place in www.stadtplandienst.de or mapquest or similar sites. Then check out the airport website to see what transportation is available. Maybe there is a coach bus service into the city. One can also call the taxi service to find out the prices.

Also, can't your hosts give you this information?

Multimap.com gives the journey as 60.9 km (37.8 miles) from the airport to Drage at 21423 by car, so not too bad as its mostly Autobahn.

what, and they didn't tell you how to get to Drage? what a bunch of lazy pissheads. i know when i did my internship, my boss offered to pick me from the train station, but instead sent his daughters instead. they were not happy about that, but nice about it.

arrive 18:15
walk 4 minutes to Winsen (Luhe) Bahnhof
take the 18:25 Bus 4405 Bus Richtung: Niedermarschacht Grundschule, Marschacht
arrive at 18:41 at Drennhausen Schule, Drage (Elbe)
