Where to buy in Berlin

Does anyone have any hints? I tried the Jewish Museum, but the menorahs all seemed primarily decorative; they wouldn't be very functional. A museum worker suggested Hackeshe Hoefe, but I haven't had time to get there. Any other ideas? Thanks much.

eBay maybe, Katchyta? I found this for ya. Not sure if it helps. Maybe it's a start. unsure.gif

Hmm, I would have suggested the Jewish Museum as well. I have the complementary problem, in that I need to find candles for the standard-sized menorah. Preferably in one of those boxes of 44.

Definitely the Jewish Museum has those packs of small Hannukah candles. I saw them yesterday.

You can also try looking either at Bleiberg's or at Plezl for candles. There's also a bookstore on Joachimstalerstrasse, and they may have candles- they carry cards and calendars, and other odds and ends. i've seen some menorahs in the flea market on Strasse des 17. Juni- sketchy provenance, perhaps. i think i'll make my menorah, be a little crafty this year- hit the hardware store.

Just came from Tabularium in Hackesher Hoefe -- they have lots of menorahs, just not HANNUKAH menorahs, which of course is what I'm after. Well, actually, they do have 2 Hannukah menorahs that I am afraid would qualify as 2 of the most ugly I've ever seen. sad.gif Discouraging. Lots of Hannukah candles there too. Jilleta, how do you think you could construct a menorah? I suppose with a block of wood and some drill bits it would be relatively easy...

Thanks for the tip, Katchyta. Just picked up a box of candles and a few sacks of gelt at the Jewish Museum.

I just finished my menorah, and it's quite snazzy. actually, i spent the afternoon with my nieces and nephews, and everyone made their own. I got the supplies at Bauhaus- I think for the piece of wood, i spent 3 euros (they'll cut it to size, and they have scraps of finished wood too that are pretty cheap- just ask them.) Then, i bought some glue (quite a bit more expensive here than the Elmer's glue that i'm used to- 5 euros!!) and i bought metal nuts= a packet of 15 was 4 euros( if you buy a packet of 4 nuts, it's 3 euros, and the 15 pack is one euro more.) A little paint, a little glitter, and my menorah's looking good. the kids had fun making theirs, too tongue.gif .
You can also hit KaDeWe or any other department store toy department, and buy some clay and make a menorah that way.
My favorite college menorah was fashioned from upside-down coke cans in a row with tealights - and for the shamash, just stack 2 cans.

Hi everyone,

Have I seen this earlier, I would have posted this link a long time ago:

This is a Judaica shop where you can order all sorts of goodies.

I have a couple of extra Hanukiahs for Hanuka, if you were residing in Frankfurt I could have lent you one. Oh,well.
