Not sure which room yet, but will reserve and post on the 3rd when I know numbers.

QUOTE (Shaggy @ Aug 10 2004, 7:54 am)

The Stammtisch happens approximately every two weeks and normal turnout is between 20-25 people at all levels from absolute beginners to native German speakers.
I hope it will be close to normal turnout this week, so far there are three people and me signed in
Sooner or later I really would like to make it to one of these...

Natalia
Jan 5 2006, 12:38 pm
Um how is it then, how we recognise each other? It's a first time that I'm coming, in fact first time I'm going to any TT event and I don't know absolutely anybody, and if I come there and ask, who is Shaggy, there might be some misunderstanding

.

Hey! Haven't been to one of these yet, but I would really like to..
Seems like there hasn't been a Stammtisch for quite a while now.
Is it because people who usually organise it
are not here /
have given up organising or have TTers just stopped showing interest?
If it's the former let's organise one!
So who's in?..

Jan 9 2006, 3:41 pm
There was one on January 5th. So it's actually neither of your suppositions.

Yep, Shaggy organised one for the 5th, and it was a really good turn out. Keep your eyes out for the next one.

Jan 13 2006, 3:40 pm
are they always gonna be on a thursday? I have language classes then and would really like to attend this as well!!
Natalia
Jan 13 2006, 3:50 pm
Do you have German classes on Thursdays? Maybe you should come directly from the classes, bring others from your group and practise in what you have just learned.
pepper
Jan 13 2006, 3:53 pm
Yep, we try to do them every second Thursday. Although this does not always work out. Usually they start at 7:30 and go on until everyone is tired of speaking German, that just depends on the evening though as to when.

Jan 13 2006, 3:57 pm
@mullet
That is the reason I rarely go.. I have mine on Thursday too (and Mondays and Tuesdays).. it has always been on Thursdays though, and I guess changing it would screw it up for other people..
Shaggy
Jan 14 2006, 7:40 pm
I have no issue with changing it but some of the regulars last year found it tough.. Wednesday would be an option, but conflicts then with
curry night...Tuesday with TT drinks.. Monday ppl are dead and Friday messes with the weekend..
Lets discuss next week and see if Wed would be ok..

Jan 15 2006, 2:49 pm
I'm not volunteering for anything...just offering a suggestion/question: if there is sufficient interest, what of having a 2nd German-speaking Stammtisch on another night? Seems the turn-out is pretty good (at least, the couple of times I've gone on a Thursday) that a 2nd night wouldn't kill the first, while offering the chance for more people to drink beer and speak bad German in a non-threatening environment. How many folks are out there who might go to a Tuesday or Wednesday night stammtisch (especially those who can't make Thursdays)?
Shaggy
Jan 15 2006, 3:12 pm
I'm fine with that idea if enough ppl want to show up for 4 per month.. lets discuss next week.

I am not entirely new to Toytown...however, I have attended very few events. (Some of the Toytowners seem scary

) But I would like to work on my German, as it is very important to gain more acceptance from my colleagues! So, bis dann!
