Hi,
I'm new to this forum, and after skimming over a few of the threads, I really like what I see. Seems like a nice crowd, I'm happy I found this place.
I'm thinking of coming over to this language evening, looks like the right place to put some polish on my German without the kind of superior drift I get from my German co-workers when I stammer some broken sentences at them...

. Plus, the wife might come too, so that'll make it, um... ah... somewhere around 1 or 2 or so

.
Looking forward to seeing you all!

Right guys, have booked a table for 20 peeps from 8pm, so you better all come or else...
Table reserved under the name 'Wilson'.
I presume the table should be available from 7.30pm if anyone is planning to get there earlier
Looking forward to seeing you all and meeting the newbies!

Tom and I are probably in...will have to gauge foot pain though and decide that evening

As usual will get there by 9 if we make it.
If I remember correctly that food was really good...particularly the jacket potato

or was that somewhere else?
Sadly we are out. Getting better day by day...but some days are better than others

Will check back at the next one...maybe it will be closer to our German class.

Sounds like my kind of evening, Shaggy. The reason I'm in Munich is to use my German, after all! Is this always in the same place? Is it easy to get to? How does one recognise the Toytowners? (Don't want to enter alone and find I'm in the wrong place, which wouldn't be a first for me, I'm afraid!)

For some reason this thread's posts of the past three weeks have disappeared... including Shaggy's post for the next event. So just to update this thread:
Next German Stammtisch will be
Thursday, 12th of May 8pm - 10pm
Max Emanuel Brauerei
Adalbertstr. 33, Schwabing
U-Bahn U3 or U6 Universität
Tel. 089 2715158If the weather turns out to be nice we might start earlier and sit in the biergarten.

PS: I assume we still have to RSVP, even for a biergarten?

I'll be there. Yes we should reserve, especially since we'll probably be indoors unless the weather picks up.
BTW, any chance of moving this event back to 7:30pm? Why was it changed to 8pm?

I'll be there, already agreed with Shaggy that I'll do the reservation as he's out of town.
Moving the event to 07:30pm is fine for me - if it's biergartenwetter we could even start earlier to catch some sun.
RSVP if you come and I'll reserve on Wednesday.

Count me in, look forward to meeting all of you (my impression is that you are all regulars who know each other...?)

Anja - I'll book tables for 7:30pm and expect some people to show up at that time. Some others will come at 8pm or even later.
Few of us are regulars and most people know each other, but that's no reason to worry - newbies are always welcome

It was moved in the winter when it was being held in one location i.e. Twisted. We have German class until 8:30 and it is close to that location so we could still get a decent hour in of speaking German. In fact several people preferred the 8 p.m. start as lots of people work late and/or are involved in language classes. When it started earlier, people launched into English earlier and there wasn't much point in us going.
Now that the location is moving around it is hard for us to make it anyway...if it is not close to our German class...by the time we get there it is more than half over. So please feel free to move it to whatever best suits everyone. When we can be there we will

Are there many actual Germans at this thing or is it just us ex-pats half assing it (not that I can manage any better) ?

Shamefully, I dont speak a stitch of german, but jml has convinced me to tag along. i think Tania will be there too.
But im starting to see a pattern developing on this particular stammtisch... jml, zimmer, green curry, tania, and myself. Will this be an asian girls night out?

Ok, I have not been to this for a while, so about time I did, although I seem to be speaking German all day at the moment, but I guess speaking German in a more relaxed environment with a beer or should be OK.
Shaggy
May 11 2005, 12:49 pm
@parnell- normally we have maybe 25% of the group being native german. As to half assing it.. the levels are mixed, but all are there to progress.
