It's a real small place... just listen for the German or just ask the Barman if in any doubt.
Look forward to seeing you there...

On a small point of pedantry, remember when saying something like '
natives welcome', or '
last time there were lots of natives', that you need to specify
natives of what? Natives of English or natives of German? Everyone is a native of somewhere.
A
google image search on the word native brings up the following...

A native of a country is someone who is entitled to vote in that country,
a passport holder.
I am the holder of a German passport.
I can vote here.
I cannot vote in the States.
Even though I am a native English sepaker.
I am a native English speaker even though I am a native German speaker.
Complex.

Some people said to me they thought I only talk to advanced speakers in German. At Roosevelts I just sat down at the one table without a native German speaker, they happened to be advanced, that' s all.
In fact some are so advanced they could hold down a coversation
in German with others benefitting as well.

Just to add some motivation-Some of you may be really tempted to speak English so please please resist the urge...
anyone heard speaking a non German sentence has to buy a drink for the person who hears!
For newbies who want to introduce themselves in English, I'll be there from 7pm.
Between 7.30-9am we'll only use German.
..and off course, Natives relates to Native language of the country we are in...

@BB
I think by 9pm there will probably be a load of regulars heading in hence the earlier start.
But we can sure extend if people are up for it... very flexible
shame to miss it once again, i'll be im ausland.
Would be nice to hear some TT people speak in their non-native language for a change, and experience what a poor Dutch guy like me has to do every day

by the way, see
Volkshochschule evening classes - Autumn 2004 for tips on the "Volkshochschule", the adult classes in Munich. They do German courses, and as it's essential for your work you can get them taken off your tax bill so they're effectively free (but check with your tax advisor first, in case they've changed the rules).
Registration is on 11th Spetember and the brochure is either online or available at all libraries.

Does that mean they were at one time? And if so, what has happened? Not enough practice? Have the words fallen out of your head onto the rugby field? Has the mass amounts of beer consumption killed that part of the brain?
You're scaring me

I thought once you learned it, it stayed in there.
I guess what you mean is that you have a passive knowledge and need to activate it...yeah...that's it...phew

No this is not the case, I find after learning certain words, then not using them for a long while, they are completely gone ! You have to keep using it to remember it !
Flutterby
Sep 8 2004, 12:18 pm
I find that if I don't use certain words or phrases in a long time, I'll remember the the word itself, but forget what it meant. Though I've found that a good trick to avoid this problem is to create brand-new meanings for the words. Of course, this solution does create problems of its own...
