I'll try and make it, getting my german lessons on tuesday/thursdays but we'll see how the brain is holding up after those.

a couple of drinks works wonders at loosening German vocab from the brain

@arwen- can you coordinate this one?
can we get a show of hands at those who'll make the event?

works for most people making the effort to learn German... but then the goal isn't a drinking session.

And Thursdays is when I head off to Volkschulhe to learn the German that I could then ptractice with you lot - so I won't be there

I can't guarantee it but I can try to be there to help out. However, I speak Bavarian rather than proper German (Hochdeutsch) although there isn't much difference at the beginner level.

We will be there round 9ish...after our German lessons...this may be too late as last time people left shortly after we arrived (was it something we said...in Deutsch?!)
But alas...can't hurt to pop by and have a small conversation. The more practice the better.

Butterbean, I think you'd be better off w/ someone who actually speaks the language properly. Don't worry, you'll be fine.
BTW, I'll also show up

@bb
i may go, in which case, be the closest thing to a 3 year old there. i'm quite proficient at pointing & grunting and after concentrating for a while, i might even drool a little bit.

Jan 13 2005, 11:19 am
@Toast: I thought Slim did all the pointing, grunting, armpit scratching, hot wax skin burning

and drooling. Plus he looks (and acts) more like a 3 year old than you...IMHO.

Okay...what do you know that we don't? I did not see that mentioned. Is that some part of that male bonding thing that we never get to see?
@bb
A three year old is actually better than me. No I swear...I hear them everywhere yapping away and think...how do they know the gender??!!?? Little s**ts (no really, I am ready to be a mom).
Drooling, pointing, grunting...can't wait. Hope my mommy will let me play too.

Spoken German is a little easier, as you can just mumble the gender, and hope no one is really paying attention !
You do tend to learn languages much better when you are younger, if only I had paid attention in class !

I'll be there for awhile (+1). I'm suffering from german memory loss at the mo...

Apart from that, it will be good to catch up with you all again.

Thanks for organizing...and ditto to what Liz said

I think TwiBa makes a good venue for the event...having that back room... it was easy to talk to people and although the tables are a bit of an awkward layout...was still easy to mingle if you wanted. Quiet places always get my vote for the Stammtisch.

Well this was only my second time, and it actually gave me confidence, to know that my German was actually OK, and I was actually able to help others !
Twisted B is a great location for this, if was so much better that we were able to talk amongst ourselves (making fools of ourselves sometimes) without having everyone looking over at you !

No worries raindrops, just keep an eye on the board for when the next one is organised, and the levels are completely different from the absolute beginners to the natives !

If we can only speak German...I won't be saying much, since I probably know about 20 German words, but I guess you have to start somewhere. I would only be able to get there shortly after 9p.m. will people still be around ??

Jan 24 2005, 6:26 pm
Absolutely, some people stay until late, but typically we switch to English around 9 - 9:30pm.
