I can't make it tomorrow now.
And unfortunately my +2 don't want to go without me.
Sorry to be such a pain, but at least it'll mean you have a bit more space.
I'll definately drag them along next week

Hallo Arwen,

I'm in the midst of a Deutsch Kurs and really need to start practicing cause I'm still such a beginner.
Danke,

hey ho, I am indeed booked as I thought tonight, taking Mannie out for dinner. We realised last night, our little group (who studied together in france) hasn't been complete since Feb 2000! And we are all in MUC tonight, so it has to be done.
Have fun!

Since a couple people have dropped out, I have invited my German friend Annette and maybe her German friend will come with her too. Some there will be some native speakers to practice with!
See you tonight!

I don't think this place has a website, but have been there several times myself. Food it rly good and reasonably priced. They do things like chicken salads and backed potatoes or bagettes with salad for about €8 and then fish and meat dishes are about €12, also there's quite a nice vegetarian selection. Only one downside and that's that the menu is written in a totally illegible font!

I was interested in coming, but my conversation is limited to what is your name, age, and where do you work and come from. Is that enough speaking skill?
Where is it located at this week, and is there room for 1?

Location: Cafe Beethoven near Goetheplatz.
Situation: I know Gabi booked 22places only...come at your own peril. Maybe there's a seat, maybe not. If all 22 people show up...and you show up late...Then you could be out of luck. I'm not sure how busy they'll be on a Thursday night.

@Julie
There are some advanced speakers...but some beginners such as Tom17 and myself. The more beginners that come the more practice we will get. You always learn something at the event...so it is good for practice and building confidence. When you can't find the words...people will help you. And sometimes it is cool to just listen.
It is a dinner event this week at Cafe Beethoven, Goethestr. 51 (closest to Goetheplatz U-Bahn stop).
Judging by the people signed up it looks like a good mixed group.
If there is no room I am sure you can be squeezed in (as people sometimes register but do not show up).

Some good German practice and interesting conversation last night (but more importantly...a few good laughs as well...!)

I can't believe they had Andechser Helles on tap. Perfect!!

I though Cafe Beethoven was a lovely venue...we managed to get a table in the corner, relatively apart from the hoards...food was lovely...if not a bit teuer though...but
Let's go there again sometime!

Yep i will, this time i don't think we need to limit the numbers though!
i'll just go ahead and reserve a table/tables for around 20 people!
so hope to see you all there!!!

have to suggest a new place for this thursday's (25th of November) stammtisch:
would you all be up for a thanksgiving dinner at the TWISTED BAVARIAN?
same time as usual, only different locations, will try out cafe puck next time then!
canuck
Nov 23 2004, 4:54 pm
I think that's a GREAT IDEA. I never ever thought I'd be celebrating American Thanksgiving speaking German in an Tex-Mex restaurant. OK. I'll be there...improving my pronounciation of 'Das' and 'ist' and 'echt' and 'Scheiße'. See you there.

I may stop by the TB for some turkey, but no way I'm celebrating my American holiday by speaking German!
canuck
Nov 24 2004, 5:15 pm
@KitKat: Its on the southeast corner of the Agnestrasse/Tengstrasse intersection. Best way to get there is take the U2 to Josephsplatz, exit north and its less than 5min walk. Just look fo the Savoy signs...and its the big wooden door with metal decoration stuff on it.
Kit Kat
Nov 24 2004, 5:19 pm
Ok, but my attempt at exiting north will be with either the south, east or west exit!!!
canuck
Nov 24 2004, 5:32 pm
Just look for the Georgenstrasse exit. That'll be north. Hang a right on Georgenstrasse, next block hang a left onto Tengstrasse. Walk 20m, it's on your right.

I might be able to come to the Twisted Bavarian, but not until after 9:30. Not sure yet.

Hey there,
just curious how a canadian fella might recognize your group?
I'm desperate for some fellow German learners, here I thought I was alone in my battle until I signed up for this site today! W00t

Nov 25 2004, 1:11 pm
I can recognize a Canadian accent from a mile away!! We should be the biggest group there...if in doubt, ask ANY of the staff or bartenders, they'll know for sure.

Anybody got a cool place they'd like to try out as a venue?? Needs to offer food to keep AquaticM happy

what about cafe puck on türkenstraße?
or what someone suggested cafe trachtenvogel (never been there, so don't know about how big it is and if it fits 20 pax!

Dec 3 2004, 12:04 pm
Tattenbachs might be good as it is a cracking place with a private room available if required... and of course close to where JML lives for the after party

We'll be along to the German talking thing (

) at around 9ish...I know technically it ends then...but perhaps we can entice some to speak a bit longer auf Deutsch.
If not hey...we can try to add to the ambience of the evening in da hood (nah...it's just Lehel).
