The original thread (
Drinks and German language practice) is closed but was active until fairly recently. I just wondered if anyone still organises or attends these get-togethers?
Any desire from anyone to come along? I can arrange one for the near future if I get any signs of interest. I need a night out and I need to improve my German :-)

The German Stammtisch is still up and running (normally every two weeks). Kats normally organises...it's been out of sync due to Easter holidays but I think it could well be on again this coming Thurs. 27th. Maybe PM her to confirm the next date.
P.S. The last one was on 6th March.

May I ask, what is the general level of German speaking ability of the attendees? Is everyone fluent, or are there some beginner/intermediate level speakers that come along? I am definitely mid-level and not fluent. Its going to be a tough night for someone if they get stuck talking to me all night :-)

Hi,
I'm German and spent a couple of months working and living in India. I remember quite well the first time, I had to speak English the whole day long, without a chance to switch to German for clearification. I want to give back something for the luck I had then with patient co-workers and dialog partners.
If you're interested in an additional native speaker I would like to join you. Due to a business trip I wont be able to make it for March, 3rd, but would try for the next date.
If someone's interested in practising written communication in German, feel free to message me.

New to this, and my German is somewhere between shocking and not bad (depending on how many drinks I've had). So if it's on, and if I've been to the football first, and had a couple of drinks, I look forward to speaking some "not bad" German!

Oh, how does a newbie find the right people (as hopefully everyone will be speaking German). It's easy to find the
Ultimate Frisbee crowd (a dude throwing a frisbee up and down), but you guys...do I just go round and listen out for poor grammar (like I can tell the difference!!

Tables are usually reserved under "Toytown".

Yep, when they understand the name (
Indian restaurants do). But you can always try asking for that group of idiotic foreigners who think they can speak German (Shades of 'ello 'ello there).
Some people arrive earlier but asking for the tables reserved for 'n' (take whatever the number is) at 20:00 will probbaly find us.
