There is a great little Wind Surfing biz at Seeshaupt at the south end of StarnbergerSee.
JB and I will drive down after Sunday Touch Rugby circa 1.15pm thus any interested parties sign up... Cost inc wetsuit is about €12 ph.
Those who just fancy getting out to the lake for a picnic, feel free to join.
In the event of numbers like Italy, I'd suggest we stagger board hire every 2 hours... or if anyone wants to take a car down earlier/later, let me know so that we can fill you up.
WEATHER DEPENDENT- If no wind, we'll still swim and party

Haven't been windsurfing anymore for about 10 years -let's see if I still know how to do it!!
So I'm definitely up for that. Cool idea!!!

I've only been that once... but it's not as hard as I thought.
Any new Toytown members out there, come join...

You've been only once?!? Hey you're going to Lake Garda this weekend - that's an fantastic area for windsurfing!!! Was there about 12 years ago for a 2weeks windsurfing holiday - really good wind!!
Yeah, everybody should join us! I reckon Starnberger See shouldn't be too difficult for beginners (or does anybody know better?!?

)

I'm up for that...if my shoulder heals by then. That's one of the reasons why I couldn't make darts last night. I'll show you tomorrow. It's NASSSSTTTTYYY!! (Man and bike vs. Tree) ---> Tree wins!!!

@PJ- yep.. once at this place...and was good. (Was able to get some good runs)
Def up for this w/e.
@Canuck-- I got my arse kicked w/o your cheating skills... you still have a left arm

Guess we get to have a handicap for Boules now
JoolyBooly
Jul 29 2004, 12:36 pm
@ Canuck I thóught it was that wimp-out at rugby? You mean you "really" got injured?!
@sk04 & canuck tough poo-poo, you're going to lose with or without a handicap so forget it!
And yes, I am going windsurfing! yippeeeee!
canuck
Jul 29 2004, 12:42 pm
My left arm is KOed. (but it feels better after the cortisone shot this morning) My right (Boule) arm is OK...but it might be difficult climbing ladders (i.e. Klettersteigs) with only one arm.
We don't need no stinking handicaps ...Bring it on women! Bring it on! I'll beat you with only one good arm!!!

I personally think this is all just a cunning ploy to get the front seat of my car tomorrow... but then that's a good idea anyway as you're the tallest and know where we're going!

I havent been for about 15 years, I did a bit at Thorpe Park, UK.
I'll be up for coming along for sure.. just gotta see if I can get someone to cover my on-call.
Will there be any spare car places for Blimeygirl and myself? We could always train it to Tutzing and cycle the rest...
Cheers,
Tom...

@ Shaggy, did you find out where it is yet? Guess "we" (i.e.
you) should plan cars if there's no S-Bahn to where we're going...
I'm actually keen on the idea of someone taking my gear if poss, I would to bike down there. I guess someone could drive my car down if that helps...

I don't mean to ruin your fun but you usually need a windsurfing licence if you're going to surf in Germany. I tried to rent a board once to no avail... Defo worth asking about.
JoolyBooly
Aug 3 2004, 1:54 pm
http://www.surfschule-starnbergersee.de/s1.htmI'm busy, let me know if someone calls to find out.. but I very much doubt we need licenses as Shaggy's been there, and he only has a license to lurve...

EDIT: ok so I found an e-mail address and mailed the guy to ask about licenses, group dicounts, course times... more later...

hey, still possible to join? i didn't get to try the windsurfing at lake garda (why was that?)...
Shaggy
Aug 3 2004, 2:10 pm
I was there 3 weeks ago and had no problem. I had never been on a board before... and no instruction was necessary.
JoolyBooly
Aug 3 2004, 2:11 pm
btw. They do lessons with a group discount for more than 6 people so let me/shaggy know if you want to do a course. They also advertise a free "taster hour" so this could also be an option.

THOSE WHO WANT TO JOIN, PLEASE PM ME BEFORE THURSDAY MIDDAY TO CONFIRM
hey... as far as I remember I havent done surfing in past 25 years...
count me in...
@Shaggy (updated version of SK04

How far is this surfing place from S-bahn station?
JoolyBooly
Aug 3 2004, 2:46 pm
I'm in, of course..
Ume, it is more a train ride tahn S-Bahn, in the south of the lake. But only 40 km from Munich so we'll drive if the cars work out. The trains are fine too though, only takes 40 mins to no different from S-Bahn. And with 5 people it would be cheep, cheep!

JB...about biking... remember the plan a) Touch practice on Sunday am and

suggestion of camping?
So, here is the list to date. Just about 2 car loads... but I think we'll have a couple more so we may need another... or we can ferry people from the train station.

I got someone to cover work for me so my good wife (blimeygirl) and I are in!
I quite like the idea of S-Bahning to tutzing and then cycling to seeshaupt. Maybe a group of radlers can divvy up for wochenende tickets for the train ride?

Hi - I may come for the picnic bit (if any) rather than the windsurfing (I was born without a sense of balance). Can't confirm til later in the week (rather than be a piker) but if so, will be driving and have room for one (no mini-pup - he doesn't wind surf either)...

sorry Tom... missed BlimeyGirl somehow.

Aug 3 2004, 3:59 pm
That's okay...I can be easy to miss when I am not jumping into the
Isar (Sunday bbq flashbacks).
So yeah...I won't be windsurfing but I would love to just hang in the sun and watch my husband fall off (does that make me a bad person?)
Cheers if there is a ride for us in a car. Otherwise, Tom reckons it is a 10 km cycle from Tutzing and we can meet up with others to share the Wochenende ticket.
Keep us posted

Just checked: there is also the S7 to Wolfrathshausen, then some biking, or possibly some bus #373 from Wolfrathshausen to there.
And then there is the DB train going directly to Seeshaupt.
If there is not enough cars ------ I mean.
Windsurfing, biking, sleeping on the beach... too much to do...
when are we planning to start...9am???
Shaggy
Aug 4 2004, 8:58 am
Based on the amount of people interested in Surfing (circa 12) I think we might be better to stagger this a bit...
If I make Rugby training (?tbc) I'll be there about 2pm... is there anyone wants to go earlier?

Ok I am trying to get my posting rate down, but this has to be done...
I plan to drive from windsurfing to
beach volleyball with San in Munich, anyone else? My car can certainly be planned in. Then we could head to Günther's for Karaoke to finish off a fun day with the song Shaggy and Canuck have been promising us...
I should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky...

Only just noticed the thread - well, didnt look at it before now due to dodgy leg but its much better now so I would like to join. Obviously no cycling for me so I guess I'll have to organize my own ride somehow - someone else going there by car please let me know!

Hi Guys,
dont mean to be a pain but could someone let me know where Gunther Murpheys
is please, have never been.
http://www.gunther-murphys.com/By U-Bahn: The U3 and U6 both go through
Schwabing. Catch one of them at "Marienplatz" travelling towards "Münchner Freiheit" and get out at "Giselastrasse". Leave the station in the same direction as the train travel and make sure you hit the street on the righthand side. After 150 metres, turn right into Nikolaistrasse, another 30 metres and on the left side of the street
