Amusing fortune cookie text - Germany

Is this a joke, or just a bad translation?

At the end of my lunch yesterday I opened my fortune cookie and found this.
Not sure if it is suppose to be a "funny" fortune or if its just a bad translation.
I thought it was funny, but my German colleagues weren't even cracking a smile.

It must be intentional. Nobody would "accidentally" translate the German sentence in such a way!

This is the correct translation, I'll explain you why, when you start drinking you start seeing everyone as handsome or pretty (depending on your gender)

The English one (beer holder rather than beholder) is funny - the German one is just a normal saying...

well, the german phrase is not funny, the English is, it's not translated the way it should be
