Hi TTers,
I might get a challenging job in Zurich. I have an unlimited work permit from Germany (Niederlasungserlaubnis).
The question is if I move to Zurich what will happen to my existing WP being a non-EU citizen? Can anyone point me to any website where I can find living and working, salary info for Zurich as Googling did not fetch me useful info.
cheers!

If you leave Germany for more than 180 days or move to another country, your Niederlasungserlaubnis will be invalidated. There is another permit called Niederlasungserlaubnis-TG which will give you the same living/working right in the other EU countries (Execpt for UK, and Denmark) but this also won't help you as Switzerland is not an EU Country.
Zurich is an expensive place to live, and cheap affordable housing is very scarce. With that said, the pay is usually more, taxes are lower than in Germany and the quality of life is also high. Your paid more because everything is more expensive..
The living/work permit is just as difficult to obtain (Maybe even a little) than the German one, so be prepaird for a long wait, unless the company your going to is rather large and has good close contacts at the local Amts. and can expedite your permit.

Darkknight,
Thanks for the info,it does not sound optimistic.
If the company is offering you a job (and presumably you told them your nationality) then they should be the ones getting the permit for you. Did you discuss it with them at all?

They know my nationality and the HR mentioned that they shall process my workpermit.Any link to calculate the salary for a senior software engineer in zurich would be very helpful.

Did not work in Zürich but worked in Basel 6 to 7 years ago as a contractor and a salary 20-30% above what you would get in Germany is good (if that helps).
The work permit in my case was organised by the agency which took 1 to 2 months.

A friend of mine is moving there and I think she mentioned that taxes are around 16%!! I will ask her anyway.
Good luck

Hi Everyone!
I need some more info regarding my wifes's visa before I sign the contract. The company promised to process the visa for both of us but my concern is her visa can take more time than mine,in that case can she join me as tourist for 3 months? she is having aufenthalerlaubnis status, will that be cancelled when she leaves germany?
thanks!

If she leaves DE for more than 180 days, then yes, she will loose her status/permit in Germany. If your having probs. with the people in CH, then go talk to/ask them about it, or somebody local that can help you..

question regarding deregistration.
Will I loose my NE(unlimited residence permit) status if I deregister(Abmeldung of my residence)? I am forced to do this in order to cancel my health insurance.
I will consider to visit germany once in 6 months if this will avoid loosing my NE status.
looking forward for your replies!
