I'm in the market for a new cell phone and would like advice on phones to consider. I've checked out various shops and websites for the big service providers, but really don't know how to narrow down the search. The biggest problem I'm having is that I want a top-quality phone with no extras to junk it up. I don't mind it having a camera as long as it doesn't clutter up the look or interface.
One of my biggest pet peeves is the phone not keeping up with keypresses, e.g., when navigating menus or scrolling through the address book. My other big issue is the layout of the menus. I absolutely hate the menu on my Razr (original version from U.S.) in addition to its sludgy response time.
I hope I'm not turning off people to helping me by ranting a bit. Basically, I just want a very good and very simple GSM (quad-band) phone, preferably with a classy, non-flashy look. Any advice on particular phones, companies or things to avoid would be great.

My Samsung SGH D900 is the dogs balls.
It has a camera etc. But the thing I like about it is the simplicity, the size and the fact it is a slide phone. Very well built, good reception and intuitive menu system.

If someone I knew bought that B&O phone, I reckon I'd have to give them a KAPOW (throat chop) on principle.

Opening and closing Serene involves a gentle move with your finger, which triggers a built-in motor that opens the shell slowly and gracefully.

Just bought a
Siemens-BenQ E71 without a contract for EUR120 and can heartily recommend it. Big, bright screen and an intuitive UI. And it looks sexy.

SonyEricsson W810i is one of the best available currently in market. Or if you want a very basic phone,
Benq-Siemens S68 is worth looking at.

The W810 walkman phone, all singing all dancing, not exactly what he is looking for I would wager
