German work permits for EU nationals

Update: no permit is required

Hi, I'm thinking of moving to Germany within the next year or so. I'd love Munich as its such a beautiful area.

I'm English with a UK passport, but can anyone clarify the restictions on working in Germany? I understood that as an EU national, I can work pretty much anywhere in Europe I fancy, without a work permit. But some immigration websites state that its hard to get a work permit if you're not in one of the sought after trades (Germany is crying out for IT folk apparently) I'm a quantity surveyor with 3 years experience, but would consider being fairly 'flexible' if looking for work in Germany. My German skills are fairly basic at the moment...

Any help appreciated. smile.gif

As a UK bod you can work in any field, no work permit necessary. Good luck and welcome to TT!

Now we are in Europe it is like this:

Alcoholic UK drug dealers with no cash, no place to live, motorhead tatoos, a criminal record and pierced bellends are just as welcome as German medical graduates to apply for the same job at McDonalds over here.

It is the law. No work permit required. You have the same rights as a German person in Germany.
