Hi everybody!

Who would like to improve his or her German-speaking language ability? I'm looking for native English-speakers who would like to meet native German-speakers so that we can exchange our language skills.

We meet once a month at a nice café or pub and have brunch or breakfast together. At one meetup we speak all the time in German, and then at the following event we speak all in English. The cycle repeats every time. For people who are not used to speaking continously in the foreign language, it is ok to switch to their own language.

All are welcome. Please post here if you intend to join, so then I can book sufficient seats at the cafe.

We generally meet at "Oma's Apotheke" at Sternschanze, Schanzenstr. 87. Although this might vary month to month.

Details of when and where are posted here each month. So keep an eye, or use the "topic subscribe" menu button to be sent updates via email.

hi moinmoin and hi CherryMilk,

yes yes ... i like to restart our English-German-Stammtisch. I was on holiday and i am back to germany again. Now first i like to contact the other ones who have been already at the stammtisch. I don't no if they keep the stammtisch alive during this time.

I dont know whether it qualifies as being centrally located as such but cafe sternshanze is quite nice,we can sit inside or outside, when its cold they have a great little log fire inside..
mgmike
yes ... this cafe is centrally located and they have a very good brunch ... i am impressed ... sometimes i am convinced there is a kind of collective consciousness or that telepathy exists. great ... for the next meetup we will go there and i plan to organize it for sunday, 29. April 07.

so ... don't hesitate and please give me an answer as soon as possible whether you like to come so that i could book seats accordingly. i like hamburg and the people here in hamburg very much and now i also like auckland in new zealand and the people there very much. it is not so easy to decide should i stay here in hamburg or should i move to auckland perhaps in one year?? perhaps somebody has the same or similiar challenge and we can discuss this point at our next English-German-Stammtisch whereas we will have a delicious brunch.

Hi All,

I will be moving to Hamburg in July from Korea (I'm American) and I'd like to check out one of these get-togethers...problem is, I am an absolute German beginner...is it still ok to join you all? Taking a class a few days a week would be ideal...so if anyone has recommendations it would be most appreciated. I also have to work, so enrolling full-time in a language course is not really an option.
Thanks heaps!

Hi Sadja!

I'm also moving to Hamburg from Okpo (Goeje Island), South Korea in a week :-O I guess this group is not for me cause I'm actually a native Russian speaker but I thought it was curious that we move to HH from the same place at the same time.

Cheers!

Sadja

Also, could anyone else help out with info about the English/German meet ups?

When is the next meet up?

Hi Sadya!

I guess it's too late cause I'm in Hamburg now and it's cold! Bring some warm clothes.

Cheers!
