I brought my XBOX from America with me to Germany. I noticed that the XBOX power supply only handles up to 120V. So I'm assuming I need to do a power conversion to even get it to turn on, correct?
Then does anyone know how to get XBOX to display on my computer LCD monitor? The monitor only has a DVI input that's being used by my computer (of course). I'm assuming I need a switch box of some sort to select which I want to display on my monitor, right?
Any experience with all of this? I would appreciate some help.
Thanks!

Yes, you need a power converter.
To get the Xbox to work on your LCD monitor will not be easy especially as it only has a DVI input. You used to be able to get boxes that would swap from AV cables to a VGA connector, but seeing as VGA is not digital that wasn't too hard. I have never seen a AV to DVI box before. Someone else might know better. I'm quite sure you would be better just buying a new TV for your Xbox.

Cheapest way would be to get a video capture card for your PC that you can plug the xbox output into. But are you sure your LCD monitor does not accept analogue input? Just because it only has a DVI socket does not mean it won't take analogue, some DVI connectors have pins for both analogue and digital signals.

Yes, I think my LCD will accept both digital and analog input but only through the DVI-type connector. It's a Samsung LCD monitor that I bought only 2 months ago in USA. So I'm assuming it can handle both.
Perhaps they sell a chord from the Xbox machine to a DVI output? Or at least to a VGA output - cuz I think I have an adaptor for VGA->DVI that came with my ATI All-In-Wonder video card.

I went to Saturn today and the sales guy said its not possible to convert an Xbox video signal to a DVI connection. Is this correct ?? That would really suck !

If a TFT does both Digital and Analog, then it must have 2 separate ports. 1 DVI and the other 15pin VGA. It yours doesn't have the 15pin
VGA, then its Digital only. It is not possible to output/input an Analog signal over the DVI Interface (On the TFT Side, Video cards can. but require an adapter).
There are many places that sell S-Video to DVI Converters. Just have a look on
GoogleWould this be the same Saturn that told me it was impossible to adapt 12v car power to 220v and there was no such
thing as an Inverter.. F'n Idiots they are, I tell ya...

I got my german Xbox (pal) from TT for 50 euros. I also got a tiny tv here and hooked them up and they work like a charm. Be careful with the games though. Some are NTSC and some are PAL. If you already have several games from the US most likely they will be NTSC and not compatible with the German Xbox. Inversely, your US Xbox (NTSC) won't play the pal games you purchase here.
Bottom line for cheap xbox play sounds like
you just need to buy a small tv and use the RCA plugs.
Keep your transformer, your NTSC games, your US Xbox (NTSC), and forget about hooking it to your computer.
Well, that's what I did.
Edit: is there a way to zap your xbox to make it region free?
A quick
google shows that there are
Region Free Games that you can buy, and that one store in Barcelona modified their boxes legaly to play region free games and dvd's.

Thanks for all your help! I was going to forget trying to plug it into my computer monitor too! Too many issues. I do have a USA xbox with NTSC and I really only play 2 games (world soccer and some flying game). So I don't need to buy a new Xbox cuz I'll need to just get the same games. I don't buy new games much at all.
So my thought is to buy a nice TV for the living room, get a nice AV receiver and then plug my Xbox into this receiver using the RCA plugs and perhaps this will work best ???
What do you think?
