Hello, I have just arrived in Cologne a week ago and I like to tango .. unsure.gif does anybody know of some tango events? or even better maybe would like to join me?!
I am a female, so I rather need a man partner although two women can dance too.. I have had some lessons but I am still a begginer.
thanks!

I can't recommend anything from personal experience, but here is a website that seems to have a fairly complete listing of Tango events in Cologne. They have a partner search board too.

Hello,

On this topic ... I always wanted to learn how to Salsa dance, does anybody know of similar sites or places in Cologne that do lessons or evenings for Salsa dancing?

I might be swayed to go to a tango night to see what it is like.

Martin, thanks. I may place my ad. there to find a partner, though I am not very optimistic.. there is a loooong list of women looking for a partner.. as usuall..

I know a bit more about Salsa in Cologne than Tango. There are several places that regularly have Salsa nights, listed here or here, but the ones I know of:

Herbrand's: Thursdays is a one hour beginners course, with a normal Salsa night right after. You'll find all levels of dancers in a fairly comfortable environment.
Petit Prince: More like a basement night club, so it can get pretty crowded, but some people prefer this atmosphere. They also have a short beginner course before the normal dance.
Kultor 5: I've never actually been here, but this place is well known for Salsa in Cologne. The have dances Fridays and Saturdays, and courses during the week. Apparently there is no open bar, so people just bring along what the want to drink.

I took a Salsa course with the University. There are several every semester, and while they are cheaper for students, others can also enrol. You can attend the first course without enrolling, and perhaps find a partner. For the next courses, though, you have to be enrolled.

I might be able to be dragged onto the dance floor too...probably after a few drinks tongue.gif
