So, here is the reason why I have been to so few meet-ups lately:

(I hate promoting myself like this, but it has to be done. Not much of a pantomime without an audience! So, please all come, and don't pay too much attention to Wendy, she's nervous as hell!)

THE FRANKFURT ENGLISH SPEAKING THEATRE E.V. PRESENTS ITS 2006/07 PANTOMIME:

PETER PAN

So you think you know all about Peter Pan?

Oh no you don't! At least not as presented in the F.E.S.T. 2006/07 Christmas Pantomime. Or have you ever seen Peter Pan in green fishnet tights? Do you want to meet Wendy the Modern Woman, and learn how the Captain really got his Hook?? And what on earth is that creature that calls itself Tank the Replacement Fairy??? Come and find out!

The show is suitable for all ages , so bring your kids (and their grandparents), and make sure to practise your "behind you!" and "oh yes it is!" Prices range from € 5 – 12; for details, discounts and reservations go to www.festfrankfurt.org or send an email to tickets@festfrankfurt.org. If you have a simple car booster seat for your kids, it might be a good idea to bring it along, as our venues basically have no raked seating – although of course the first row or two will always be reserved for our littlest fans!

Performances:

Frankfurt International School, Oberursel
Saturday Dec. 16, 2006 , 2 pm and 6 pm
Sunday Dec. 17 , 2006, 2 pm

Saalbau Ronneburg, Frankfurt-Preungesheim
Saturday Jan. 13, 2007 , 7 pm
Sunday Jan. 14, 2007 , 2pm and 7 pm

Wöhlerschule Frankfurt (near Dornbusch)
Saturday Jan. 20, 2007 , 2 pm and 7 pm
Sunday Jan. 21, 2007 , 2 pm

Excuse me – but what exactly is a British Pantomime?

If you haven't grown up or lived in the UK or Ireland for any length of time, you will probably associate "pantomime" with the silent art of Marcel Marceau and his colleagues. Far from being silent, the traditional British Christmas pantomime is a fun family show, usually based on a well-known story or song, and relying heavily on audience participation. The hero (the "principal boy" or "prince") is played by a young woman in fishnet tights; the funny "dame" is played by a man in drag; in addition (or instead) there can be two Ugly Sisters (again, played by men); and there are parts for children, animals, talking trees and the like. Add a few song & dance numbers, political jokes and whatever else seems appropriate (or not), and you have your "panto"! Of course, the best way to understand this very special art form is to experience it first-hand – so come and see our Peter Pan!

A CERTAIN FRIEND is playing Wendy in Peter Pan. It starts in December already. I don't think I'll make it up there that quick though, I plan to go on Saturday night, January 20. I'd like to go with a group though, and you all know who you are. Newbies welcome to come along. I don't want to organize tickets, I think it'll be easiest if people just get their own and we can meet up before for dinner and truck out on the RMV or just meet up afterwards and in the intermission, assuming there is one...?

Of course anyone can go to the play anytime they want, but I just thought I'd be selfish and orient my post here towards ME ME ME, and I can only come up that weekend. Also, anyone from Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt looking for a nice night out in FFM?

Anyone from Munich interested in coming up -- or from anywhere else in Germany and want to go over? People keep saying they want to do a TT Roadtrip and I think this would be quite fun. If it comes together like. I think we'll be going by train from here unless someone else wants to go and will drive, then we'd share gas gladly.

Do post here if you'd like to come along, or if you have suggestions for the before-theater drinks, the after-theater dinner, or the Sunday Brunch the next day. wink.gif

I will be away the other 2 weekends.

Will be great to see you again Gen!

I think we can also come up with a pretty good plan regarding pre/after show drinks wink.gif
And regarding sunday brunch, how about the Mouson Bar at the Mouson Turm, they do a very nice brunch which includes some excellent tasty desserts (including as many Mohnkopfe/Haribo/Apfelstrudel/Kuchen as u want)! biggrin.gif

oooooooooo

Gen are you are a definite for that date? I was going to suggest we go the weekend before to the Sunday one after brunch? I might not be able to make this weekend

Because you know how much I'll want to see you so am sure I can possibly change it.

Also there is a bed for you at my house if you need one biggrin.gif

Mohnköpfe -- Poppy heads? Mmmm, sounds opiate.

I do need a bed in fact -- it's definitely that weekend because that's the only time hubby can come along. So we need a bed for two, and he's 2 meters tall. I was kindof thinking that all these factors might force us into a hotel... esp the 2 meters tall bit, he doesn't deal well with headboards or footboards or anything.

I'm afraid LB is talking about Mohrenköpfe, no opiate but also quite addictive... tongue.gif

I may be up for the pantomime / brunch / whatever on the weekend of the 20th as well. smile.gif

Hooray! smile.gif

Ooh I've been merged with Kes's thread about it -- have asked the mods to unmerge as the dates are different for the run of the show and for the only night that I can go. Though I do admit I didn't see the other thread first. That's what I get for having a job now... too little time to read TT carefully! wink.gif
