Kaizers Orchestra is a band from Norway whose genre is hard to define (gypsy oompah rock?) and whose live shows have to be seen to be believed. I first heard about them when Geoff Berner (a crazy Vancouver accordionist on a mission to "drag Klezmer kicking and screaming back into the bars" who will incidentally be at Kaffee Burger in early December) said the following about them in one of his newsletters:

QUOTE (Geoff Berner)
As I've mentioned before, for you ignorant North Americans, the Kaizers are the biggest band in Norway and possibly the fastest-rising group in Europe. Plus, they're really good. In rock critic shorthand, they are Tom Waits meets the Hives, but better than that. Best live rock band in the world, currently,
for my money, such as it is.

Fortunately, I happened to read this a few days before Kaizers Orchestra were playing at popKOMM, so I caught their set and it blew me away.

Anyway, they're currently on their last tour before a hiatus that will last into 2008, and they're playing at the Fritz Club in Postbanhof am Ostbahnhof Tuesday night at 21:00. I'm definitely going; anyone want to join me?

Wow, Kaizer´s Orchestra!

I´d love to join you...but I´ve got an exam at university on Wednesday, so it´s probably gonna be too late that night.

How much is it, though?
I might change my mind...

According to the Fritz website, tickets are 22 euros plus VorVerKauf fees.

Awesome show! cool.gif

Is it just me, or is does the keyboard player look even creepier when he takes off the gas mask?
Kat78
Honestly, I couldn't say; I didn't wear my glasses. biggrin.gif But then, I sort of liked the gas mask. Pretty cool. The whole show was pretty damn cool, aside from the fact that I had to sneak out a little early. Oh well.
