Where to buy roof bars etc.

Back in the UK if I wanted to buy roof bars for my car it would be a pretty good bet that I'd be able to find what I wanted at Halfords. Now that I'm in Munich I want to buy roof bars for my car but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Does anyone know where I can buy roof bars (Thule preffered)? Is there a German equivalent of Halfords?

Thanks

Try somewhere like ATU (Auto Teile Unger). They have a store on the Frankfurter Ring just round the corner from Studentenstadt U-Bahn station.

A.T.U München 1
Frankfurter Ring 228
80807 München

Telefon: 0180-52727034
(0,12 €/min)
Öffnungszeiten:
Mo - Fr: 07:30-20:00 Uhr
jeden Sa: 08:00-16:00 Uhr

They also have an online shop on their website:

Then there is also the Stahlgruber. Make compatible parts for most cars and do some accessories. Schindelar is also good in Münich East. Got its name for a scrapyard but now have opened a big shop next to it with all sorts in including tyres and the likes.

Doesn't OBI sell this kind of thing? I know they have a section for car stuff, but I've never paid attention to exactly what they sell.

Thanks for all the advise. As is often the way with these things, having asked the question, the very same day I stumbled across an answer. I found a shop just a short walk away from the city centre where I was able to get exactly what I wanted. The guy in the shop was also very helpful and spoke English.

The shop was on Corneliusstr. and seemed to carry a lot of stuff for cars including a pretty comprehansive range of Thule parts. For completeness I understand that the shop is open 09:00 - 19:00 through the week, and 09:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.

Cheers.

I picked mine up from Marktkauf a supermarket near here. I'm sure I've seen them at Bauhaus or one of the other general DIY places. They were cheap as well. only about €30 - €40 as opposed to something like €130 for gen BMW bars. I'll have a look round and see what I can find.

Just been in Bauhaus collecting a few bits and pieces. Still got the roof bars that I've used for moving the canadian around for €41 if you're interested.
