The Ashes (Australia v England cricket) are going on from November 2006 through January 2007. The time differences are really awkward, but maybe we could try meeting at some English or other pub that gets Sky Sports. The first test starts tomorrow in Brisbane and seems to be going on 01:30-09:00 or maybe 10:00 CET for up to five days.

Oh man, and the BBC Five Live doesn't even seem to work for non-UK IP addresses:

Please note: International listeners will not be able to hear TMS when broadcasting from outside the UK - rights restrictions prevent us from streaming England's Test tours to an international audience.

I just love it when "rights restrictions" make it impossible to watch or listen to an event in any way. rolleyes.gif

the ashes scoreboard on www.theage.com.au is a good one.

Any Cricket fans here? Are there any TV channels to watch the world cup or any sports bar in Berlin that show cricket on screen?

I've been looking, but as said above the damn TV rights issue has denied free internet broadcasts in this country.

I did find this website Cricket on TV

Assuming it's on Sky, your best bet is probably the Old Emerald Isle Irish pub in Kreuzberg. We watched some NFL games earlier this year. I have actually got the Kilkenny Irish Pub in the Hackescher Markt S-Bahnhof to show cricket, but it was always pretty early in the morning, when there was no soccer going on.

England-Canada and Scotland-Australia would seem to be matches of interest to this group.

Hey, I am hanging for the england/australia game next Sunday. Has anyone determined where to the best place to watch the cricket is yet in Berlin yet. I am moving to Berlin from tommorow, so I have web-searched these pubs names as potenials, but am not sure if they (or even one not on the list) are any good in reality and whether they will have the game on. Suggestions...

Belushi's Bar, Manager: Chris Fox, Rosa-Luxemburg-Str.41, 10178 Berlin, 030-81453960, U-Bahn: Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz

Céili House, Manager: Kristian Smith, Pariser Str. 20, 10707 Berlin, 030-88711477, www.ceilihouse.de, U-Bahn: Adenauerplatz, Bus: Olivaerplatz,

I have actually watched cricket in the Kilkenny Irish Pub in the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station, but that was early in the morning when no one was there, and the barmaid still looked at us funny. Unfortunately there are no English pubs in Berlin with the demise a few years ago of the Black Swan. The Old Emerald Isle might be a good bet (we've watched NFL playoffs there) but they tend to be dominated by rugby and soccer. (They have no sports listed for April 8, but they may just not have got around to it yet.)

Anyway, I'd definitely be up for watching the game, if we can find a place to go.

Am heading over to the OEI for the football now. I shall ask if they'll be showing it and let you know...

The Old Emerald Isle will be showing the cricket next Saturday. They update the sport events on their website a week before, so it should show up today/tomorrow.
jtw
Cool, but did you mean Saturday (Bangladesh v South Africa) or Sunday (England v Australia)?
gooner_gal
Sorry...asked about England and they said yes. Would check the website during the week.
jtw
Thanks. So far they've got Ireland-South Africa today and England-Sri Lanka tomorrow, which is the first time I've seen them list cricket.

Belushis hostel (at the exit of Rosa-luxembourg platz U bahn) is a relitavly new bar/hostel which has ten tv screens and two sky boxes.. they have been showing all of the world cup and selling 2 bottles of becks for 3 euros! definatly worth a visit.. but please not whenever Leeds Utd are playing as they have promisied me to show any televised games!
gooner_gal
But with 2 sky boxes that shouldn't be a problem, oder?

I've put it up on the meetups forum: http://www.toytowngermany.com/forum/index...showtopic=63825

Okay, with South Africa's loss to New Zealand, England have the opportunity to beat out SA for the last semifinal slot if they win their last two games: South Africa Tuesday and West Indies Saturday. I'm thinking of catching the second half of the ENG-SA game after work on Tuesday. Has anyone watched at the Oscar Wilde? I'd be interested to try that option, in part because Friedrichstrasse is easier to get to on my way back from Golm that Kreuzberg is.

BTW, I did catch the end of NZ-SA at the St. Christopher, and it seemed like a nice place; at least one of the bartenders was learning about cricket via the World Cup. They didn't have the sound on, though, although to be fair we didn't ask.
