Post delivery speeds within Germany

Question as above, I couldn't find any information on the Deutsche Post site (I did look!). I imagine there is a standard for Cities, Towns and Villages and how far away etc.

Does anyone know how long letters take (say to Hamburg) from Munich. Next day or two days later?

Generally they say day+1, meaning the next day; that applies to about 90% of the letters. Rarely two or more days.

From me experience, generally 1 day and I have sent/received a few within Germany.

I can imagine that would be the case for major cities in Germany.

Switzerland was great that way (if you sent it A post it was pretty much guaranteed the next day), B post (cheaper) meant you were not fussed (ie bill payments )

Then are you doing a survey too

Generally next day regionally or between major centres if you post by X O'Clock.
Nothinh longer than day after next working day I'd guess.

90% the next day
5% the day after
4% within a week
1% lost in space

PS: Yes, I made those up. Based on personal experience, though. I do remember that letter boxes used to have little signs saying something like 'if you post a letter here before 6 p.m. it will be delivered the next day'. Sadly, those signs are gone. Not sure how reliable the info on them was, though.

I was looking for that little sign too. Sounds about right though even if the stats are invented!

My experience is pretty good - there is a main sorting office near us - pop letter in up to 10pm or so at night & usually its there next day within Germany...

Had the same experience! Posted the card in Berlin at about 9:30 pm and it was in Munich for my friend's birthday the next day!!

I have never had anything take longer than 2 days - that i know of that is!!
