Looking forward to watching the game. Here's a preview:

If you go GMs let me know, cause I might pop in after playing squash. Although I might stink a bit.

You ever thought of going to a match?

Of course, but the budget is getting tighter at the end of the month. Maybe next round...
Have been to see an 1860 match. That was sweet. The stadium is amazing. I'll post my status later in the afternoon.

Alright freaks,
I'm off to Gunther Murphy's tonight to watch the Bayern Munich game. I would suggest it as the TTT spot, but we were just there last week, and I don't want to impose. So if anyone is interested, I'll be there at 8:30. They are showing Bayern Munich vs AC Milan on the small screen, Benefica vs Liverpool on the big screen, and Real Madrid vs Arsenal on the TVs. Games start at 8:45, and I just read on their website that cocktails are half off all night.

It actually might not be a bad place to watch the game (also close to home) but most people don't know about it. And it is indeed smokey. They definitely need a new ventilation system in there.

Feb 21 2006, 3:40 pm
It's a restaurant -- they serve Bavarian pig chow and other stuff. They have a screen they pull down during games. On Tattenbachstr. near the
Lehel U-Bahn. Not worth the trip in my opinion...
brokenm
Feb 21 2006, 3:43 pm
one incorrect opinion...but not the best spot for TTT. But if you tire of expat pubs this is a nice one.
@BrokenM - theres a tv at Tattenbach? Never saw it - how odd.
@Sk8tr -
Tattenbachits near the
Lehel U4 stop. Nice little Bavarian place. I go there quite frequently but usually just for dinner. It *seems* more of a sit down place. Very heavy on the smoke though so wear your crap clothes if you go there.
PS: nevermind question answered, agree with BM great place but not really TT Tuesday-esque.

Feb 21 2006, 3:46 pm
@JML
L-Town posse in effect. They do have a tv that they pull down for the footie fans. But I agree it is too smoky when it is full, otherwise quite nice.
TattenbachIt actually has quite a history. It is the oldest restaurant in
Lehel, this was the place to go for opera singers and actors in the past. They renovated it 2003. I do not know of new owners, but I have been going there since Jan. of 2002 and think it is great for bavarian food and some Augustiner. I do not think it is the best restaurant in Munich, by far, but it has a great atmosphere and is a welcome change from the ex-pat bars.
mrbrain
Feb 21 2006, 3:47 pm
They have a screen they pull down for games, some projection shit. When I visited munich several years ago, I used to eat there. But since then they changed owners and the quality took a nose dive. There so many other good restaurants in Munich there is no way I could recomend this place.

Just confirmed that Tatabaka is showing the game. If there is a TT crew you might want to try to reserve a spot or get there early to secure seating. After GM I might walk by to see if anyone is still around, as I live just around the corner.

Is anyone going there at all other than brokenm? Most people seem to heading to GMs.
One of the reason's Tattenbach is not so good for larger meetups is that you *should* definitely make reservations. Its not required but recommended as it is a busy neighborhood place. If they're busy they will also ask you to give up your reserved spaces if your peeps dont show up, i.e. you can hoard place if people "might" show up. Its a use it or lose it sort of place. The locals tend to sit there a while too, so if its full, its full and theres not much of a standing area.
Tattenbachs is nice for an early dinner or a strict rsvp meetup but I wouldn't hit it for a TT Tuesday. And I'm not just saying that to keep yous aways, its honest truth, hand to heaven.
Yeti
Feb 21 2006, 5:52 pm
When JML reaches a hand to heaven it's not the hand you should be watching, it's the trajectory of the grenade that may just have been lobbed in your direction that is worthy of your attention.
I'm not saying it's always like that but it only has to happen once.
Yeti, I learned everything from the old neighborhood: the Irish on one side and the Italians on the other. Nuns across the street. Germans in the back. Man, were they the outcasts. The bootkickers came later. So yeah, hand to heaven Yeti, hand to heaven.
