OK so Schrannenhalle tomorrow, English Bar or New Yorkers ? I'll deff be there, love the place, what's not to love about a place with over 20 bars in one place ?

suggestion, just aim for one of the big seating areas and just wing it. You can always go to the english bar and get your pint of "wife beater"...

Fallback plan, if there is no seating available in the Schrannenhalle, try the balcony at the Pschorr which over looks it?

Don't know where you live but faves would be 152 bus to Viktualienmarkt or lots of others or S Bahn to Marienplatz and walk through the markt.

Sounds a bit confusing, the link goes to a shopping mall or something? Do you mean the Schrannenkeller which is part of it (well from what I can read on the website anyway) or what? And just to add to the confusion theres a hacker pschorr keller either inside or next to it or something too? Hmm guess if I head to the general area I will probably work it out will I?

Big chrome and glass buiilding next to The Pschorr Keller with lots of bars and eateries in it.

If you go to the Viktualienmarkt and look at the big white Pschorr keller the Schrannenhalle is attached to it.

Der Schorr has a regular menu. Not sure how late the other places in the main hall are open, but I think you'll be all right. Better than the room service menu I'll looking at anyway.

Let me be the first to post that after a bloody good night out the owner of The New York Bar was an arsehole !

After approx 25 people on our night had fed his tills it fell to the stragglers amongst us and Yorkie in particular to defend an accusation that we hadn't paid for 2 beers.

We requested Police presence if he wanted to carry it through and the only thing that he had to say was that he had always had problems with english speaking people and that he never wanted them at his bar again.

I suggest we make his dream come true and that all and every TTers current and future be told that this guy is a total anti anglo ( of whatever ilk ) and should be boycotted !

There will be other posts backing this, I know from the others that were there. But trust me, avoid this bar!

nah, I think it'd be more effective to occupy every stool in his place, order one coffee and nothing else, and sit there for hours like the locals he loves so much.

Well last night was a fantastic night, it had everything!
However the downside is, as bd has said, that despite a very good night, I do not see too many TT'ers going to the New York bar again, unless it is to trash the place.
The two beers logic was inspiring, apparently the owner, who turned up at the very end clearly after he had been doing his line in the back, decided that I had partaken of two helles that I had not yet paid for!
He distinctly remembered me ordering them whilst wearing my noteworthy black coat.
Which I had actually not put on until I was ready to leave, as the ambiance was so warm and friendly anyway.
The fact that we had all paid for each round as we ordered, seemed to escape him, probably because he wasn't there, but the dark haired girl and the blond guy who served us would have noticed us giving tips along the way.
So if my two helles caused anybody problems, I do apolgise.
By the way I only drink Weissbier!

Right I didnt make it to this weeks TT Tuesday Drinks, but my friend (The Boy From Bozlem) went. He has just got into work this AFTERNOON, he has no idea how he got home either! And to top it all off he woke up this morning with a lump on his head, both his knees grazed and a pack of Lucky Strike (which he would never smoke) in his pocket!!

What did you lot do to him?!

Although I wasn't there last night, I have noticed that the tills in all the units in the Schrannenhalle are linked. As far as I know this is because its the same type of set up as Tollwood - each stand holder pays a % of turnover on top of the rent. You will notice that they are all very careful when taking orders that everything is entered immediately (as they are constantly being checked ) and if its only drinks - they want the money on the spot. I have also noticed loads of fiddles - staff fiddling the boss ands bosses fiddling the company that rents out the units. By the sounds of things that's what was going on last night - He was trying to rip you off...
