if you want to go to this meeting on a Tuesday, do you have to sign up somewhere? I mean, are seats limited? Whatever - I'm coming. If there's no space left I'll sit on someone's knee.

I for one feel grateful that Karambos hangs out with us, rather than his way cooler show biz buddies.

Show biz! Yer jestin aren't ya? Nothing showbiz about my mates.
Why is it that whenever I go out to a Toytown do I wake up the next day feeling like a pig shat in my head?
But, seriously (spot the Phil Collins reference) was nice to see everyone again.
I hate Phil Collins. Just for the record. Have nothing but venomous hatred for the man.

Ahh... its that Man U situation all again.
Either you love them or you hate them ! Man U, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich.
Well, for me, I'd like Bayern to lose, just so that my work colleagues don't get too big headed. They seem to think that German football is one of the best, as as Bayern have won the Bundersliga so many times, that makes Bayern one of the best teams in Europe.
err.. do me a favour !
Just as Germany had an easy run to the World Cup finals, then upon facing a good team, lost.

Think everyone's in need of a rest. I also won't make it this evening, got back late from Frankfurt, then had about 4 hours sleep, and had to get into the office.
Will be refreshed and ready to go next week though !

Got band practice tonight...no for me
3 Lions, bless you. Unfortunately you know only too well the script. One free beer (if I manage to finish work in time for it) then its downhill from there, and before you know it i have spent €20. I dont have the willpower to have just one beer im afraid...weak I know

Mar 2 2004, 2:23 pm
I'll be there for a couple early on, but after that I'm gonna go home and put a pizza on - frankly had enough of the GMs menu and so need a little break from it.

So does anybody want to do something this tuesday? I feel like getting out and about and having a chat / put names to faces. Anyone else? Murphy's or elsewhere - is the football gonna be totally dominant? Speak up.

I´m keen to do something quietish. I´d be happy to watch the game at GM, free beer or not. Umm what time does it start?

can't predict whether I gonna be able to get out of work early. Prob with footy is it can really pack out GM - to the extent that they don't let people in the door. That removes the point of going there - to be able to mingle and meet peeps. Anybody got any suggestions for somewhere else?

If you want Irish pub stylee then Kilian's is your only man. Plenty of bar space and you have the added benefit of Ned Kelly's for the overflow.

So I am travelling again tomorrow, this time am off to Aschaffenburg so staying in Germany. As I will be back a little late, is there any general opinion for a meet-up ? Then I can join you around 9:30pm.
I've been wanting to check out Atomic Cafe on Tuesday:
QUOTE
Space Escapade : Exotic Club Pop Entertainment: eine retrofuturistische Auswahl aus Jazz, Brazil, Latin, Funk & French Yé-Yé, garniert mit würzigen exotischen Zutaten von den 50ern bis übermorgen.
Anyone up for something different. Yeah, I know there is a cover, and they don't open until 22:00. Maybe meet somewhere before and then whoever wants to go to Atomic can.
Any takers??

Just a suggestion. If we do go to GM's tomorrow night should we reserve a big table? I am very opposed to standing at the bar when it's at capacity.
3 Lions
Mar 8 2004, 1:59 pm
@fusilli
You will probably struggle to get served even then. The last time they were full from the footy, the girls couldnt get through the crowd at the bar to serve the tables.

Sounds like anyplace but Murphy's - Karl, what about this place by Nordbad? That'd up the street from me so I'm in.
What game is going on anyway? Cockermouth vs. North Hamptonfordshire?
Jimbo
Mar 9 2004, 9:18 am
Watch your lip Drivin' West - we don't like that sort of attitude in these parts - the games are Manchester United v. Porto and Chelsea v. Stuttgart. There's also more English football on tomorrow night...
The really big game of Middlesborough v. Tottenham is not, for some reason, being shown anywhere.
davek
Mar 9 2004, 9:31 am
Calm down lad @drivinwest!
what do you know about 'proper football' anyway?
Wouldn't
Kilians be showing the footies as well?
I'll go with DW as it's up the road from me too!!!

OOP THE MIGHTY BORO
ONE JOB ON TEESIDE, THERE'S ONLY ONE JOB ON TEESIDE, ONE JOB ON TEESIDE...
Would be nice if it was Boro 5 - Spurs 1 again like in the away game ha ha.
It is a special flag night so all Boro supporters will be even more flag-mad than usual and the Cup will be taken around the stadium before kickoff.
No Danny Mills though and we've been playing crap at home this season (which is unusual, we are usually terrible away).
May the best team (i.e. Boro) win.

@ Jimbo
See, that was your perfect opportunity to take a piss out of the Americans by asking who would want to watch teams named The Mighy Ducks, The Penguins, or The Nuggets?
@ davek
Proper football? Nothing, and while I came to Europe with an open mind about it, I've resigned myself to the fact that I just don't care for it and never will (and as a result I'll give you guys the occasional razzing).

Another American baiting opportunity squandered...damn it. Not to worry though, Fusilli will probably arrive in a moment with some erudite comment that all of us Brits can mock...
