how can you not go when there are 3 euro maß and 2 euro half-chickens???

Easy, they are not showing the football? dry.gif
DrivinWest
I thought TB was a done deal. I need me a burrito.
Winegirl
TB is the place this week but some of us want to watch the Football game which unfortunately is also tonight.
DrivinWest
No silly footie for me. TB it is for me and anybody else...?
roots
I thought I was going to TB for Schöpfer Stammtisch. Didn't realize TT Tuesday drinks is also there tonight ohmy.gif
brokenm
When there is only one week where the biers are three euros, I will be at Hofbraukeller. TB's will also have a lot of business on the fifth of May, but enjoy yourselves..If the weather turns and TB's wants to offer a comparable deal ... I will be there. Sonst, gehe ich zum Hofbraukeller
bubblylady
I think the offer is only applying for the beergarden and it doubt that the beer garden will be open tonight.
brokenm
so many doubts for a self professed bubbly lady...It was open on days much worse than today, but I live right by there, so it is not a hassle for me to go there and find out they are closed. But if you live the safe simple life and don't like risks...enjoy TB. By the way I am a fan of TB'S chips (some of the best this side of San Antonio), but when I see a special offer such as this, I take full advantage of it, to the detriment of my liver!

@ DW,
Space and moko are up for TB!
See ya there.
take care,

What's going on at TB on the 5th of May?
TexasTornado
Cinco de Mayo on May 5th!
Muffin Man
As a San Diegan, I'll miss all the great Cinco de Mayo parties in Old Town. Where's my tequilla...
Hazza
Next week is the last TT Tuesday at The Arc until after the summer.

As such we're going to be hosting the great Aussie wine party.

We'll get a hold of some Australian wines and let you try them throughout the evening.

We're still working on details, but they'll be decided on in the next day or 2 and posted here...
Hazza
OK - for this week's Tuesday drinks at The Arc (10.May.2005), we're going to be having an Aussie wine tasing evening. We'll be serving a selection of red and white wines, which you'll be able to try and also to buy bottles of.

It'll be €5 a head to try the wines.

For those of you who prefer beer, just a reminder that we've got the Augustiner Maibock in.

As usual, the 'Toss the boss' happy hour will be on between 6pm and 7pm and our special summer happy hour - €2 for a helles between 10:30pm and 12:30am will also be on...
Hazza
Oh and Winegirl will be the expert on hand to help you with your wine selection...
butterbean
Is there any particular block of time that the wines (and Winegirl) will be available tonight? For tasting/advising. Tasting the wine and not Winegirl I mean. She would be doing the advising. aw, bugger...you know what I mean.
Hazza
It'll start around 7:30pm and go for an hour or so.

It depends a bit on what the crowd will be like tonight, but even if you come in after that, I'm sure Winegirl will still be around to help you
Winegirl
Yeah, try to get Winegirl to stop talking about wine...it'll never happen.
Crawlie
Just try and get Winegirl to stop talking...

Urrrmmmmm blink.gif

Anyways. To avoid incurring the wrath of Hazza or The Mods... Try and make it to The Arc this evening. These wine tasting events really are worth going to. Very informative and...urrmmm... they have wine to drink... wink.gif

AUSTRALIAN WINE EXPERT:
A lot of people in this country pooh-pooh Australian table wines. This is a pity as many fine Australian wines appeal not only to the Australian palate but also to the cognoscenti of Great Britain.

Black Stump Bordeaux is rightly praised as a peppermint flavoured Burgundy, whilst a good Sydney Syrup can rank with any of the world's best sugary wines.

Château Blue, too, has won many prizes; not least for its taste, and its lingering afterburn.

Old Smokey 1968 has been compared favourably to a Welsh claret, whilst the Australian Wino Society thoroughly recommends a 1970 Coq du Rod Laver, which, believe me, has a kick on it like a mule: 8 bottles of this and you're really finished. At the opening of the Sydney Bridge Club, they were fishing them out of the main sewers every half an hour.

Of the sparkling wines, the most famous is Perth Pink. This is a bottle with a message in, and the message is 'beware'. This is not a wine for drinking, this is a wine for laying down and avoiding.

Another good fighting wine is Melbourne Old-and-Yellow, which is particularly heavy and should be used only for hand-to-hand combat.

Quite the reverse is true of Château Chunder, which is an appellation contrôlée, specially grown for those keen on regurgitation; a fine wine which really opens up the sluices at both ends.

Real emetic fans will also go for a Hobart Muddy, and a prize winning Cuivre Reserve Château Bottled Nuit San Wogga Wogga, which has a bouquet like an aborigine's armpit.

When are the happy hours?

I am newbie...would be great to meet new people...whom should I ask for If I make it tonight?

Cheers.
VDB
I'll be there, prob around 8 or so.
DrivinWest
Showing around 7 I think. I had a hell of a day that needs to be capped by beer. OH, I think I gotta pay my tab from last night too... oops.
Topsy
Ever since I started going to Winegirl's wine tasting evenings I'm a complete convert to Aussie wines - if you taste wines from the same price category in a direct comparison they beat the French wines hands down every single time.

So who wants to meet for drinks tonight and keep our Tuesday tradition going?

How about Hoftbrau Haus? We've never done it there before now?
jml
Noooooooooooooooo. I can't go tonight and the HFB is next door. @3L you are killing me. Killing me I say. Anyhoo, theres also the Augustiner am Platzl which is very nice and makes a damn good spaetzl. dry.gif
SilenTTearS
i have some business to take care of tonight... but i'll try not to miss the night .. just make sure to mention the address of the chosen place specifically .. you know am new here, and i dunn wanna suffer when i decide to attend!

Will b checkin again in a while..
JoolyBooly
depends how many people go, would we all get room in the Hofbräuhaus?

I'd be up for it for early drinks, then off for birthday dinner
Owain Glyndwr
If jml wants to put off Hofbräuhaus, how about the Hofbräukeller on Wiener Platz (just round the corner from Max-Weber-Platz)? They have a Biergarden if the weather is nice and plenty of room inside if it is not.
JoolyBooly
yep, sounds good to me. Are they still doing their €5 dinner offer? I know last week they had a Maß for €3 or something crazy, missed it dry.gif
Owain Glyndwr
no. and the cheap masses haves stopped as well.

i will check the homepage to see what is going on.
JoolyBooly
fair 'nuff, it is Biergarten season now so the time when they make their money... still like it there, very "Munich".
Owain Glyndwr
Actually, just looked, they are still offering two dishes for day for the €5 price.

edit: you can reserve tables online as well. so maybe it is decided that we go there one of us can reserve.
JoolyBooly
what does 3 lions say, he started the discussion? Maybe we could book in the Hofbräuhaus, but I tried once before to no avail...
butterbean
a) jml's going back out of town again at the end of the week, b`) doesn't drink (much, or well anyway) and c) I thought we'd already concluded dragons live on that side of the Isar. ..

I have a meeting near Marienplatz that should (fingers crossed) end 6:30ish, so could *theoretically* pop in for a swift mass...smile.gif
