Toytown Regulars - After Work Free Beer
Murphy's Irish Pub
Nikolaistrasse (Schwabing - between Giselastrasse and Münchner Freiheit)
http://www.gunther-murphys.com/
As usual, be at "The Well" (a seating area in the pub - you can't miss it) starting from around 5:30pm. The first 20 to arrive will get their first drink (draught beer or cider) on the house. If you can only arrive later, no problem. The group usually hangs around until late (11pm, midnight, maybe even later). The drinks offer is time limited - so the earlier you get there the better!
Find me for the beer vouchers when you arrive.

P.S. There will be a phrase posted on tuesday 13th that must be said to get your beer token. We been slacking recently...

No phrase, no beer (unless you got a good excuse)
The phrase is -
Oh, my old man's a dustman,
He wears a dustman's hat,
He wears cor-blimey trousers
And he lives in a council flat.

Frankly I liked that one we were talking about at Murphy's a couple of days ago...what happened with that one?

Classic pub grub - it's OK, not great tho, and a litte over priced, but 8€ and you'll get a nice enough burger.

Bacon, Egg & Sausage Roll or the Battered Sausages are what I go for. Keep it simple and nice n' greasy.

Superb burgers. In fact, two of the best burgers I've ever had have been since I arrived 1 week ago. One was the BBQ burger at GM, the other was the easy cheesey at Bondi.

Or if you fancy splashing out, go for the fillet steak.

True - the steak is very nice indeed. €15 though, so it ain't cheap. The BBQ burger is good too...

or possibly her son. Definitely a child of some form though mate. No doubt about that in my mind whatsoever. Not on the menu though.

OK, just a quick reminder - free drinks are indeed on the cards for tonight, and it would be great to see some new faces around the place, but to prove you're on the board can you please quote the phrase:
"Drinking free beer is very much like making love to a beautiful lady"
to me when you arrive, before 7, and I shall furnish the first twenty lucky souls with a beer...
And if you don't know which comedy show that is from then shame on you...
Jimbo,
I guess you had to think of a phrase you're sure you would not forget yourself

For those who can't remember... and Dutch people.

MAKING COFFEE: Making a cup of coffee is like making love to a beautiful woman. It's got to be hot. You've got to take your time. You've got to stir... gently and firmly. You've got to grind your beans until they squeak. And then you put in the milk.
LAYING A CARPET: Laying a carpet is... very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You check the dimensions, lay her out on the floor, pin her down, walk all over her. If you're adventurous - like me - you might like to try an underlay.
HANGING WALLPAPER: Well, hanging wallpaper is also very much like making love to a beautiful woman. Clean all the relevant surfaces, spread her out on the table, cover her with paste, and stick her up. Then you clean your brush, light your pipe, stand back and admire your handiwork.
PUTTING UP A TENT: Putting up a tent, is... very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You rent her, unzip the door, put up your pole an'... slip in to the old bag.
WASHING A CAR: Washing a car, is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You've got to caress the bodywork. Breathe softly and gently. And give every inch of it your loving attention. And make sure you've got a nice wet sponge.
ANSWERING THE PHONE: Answering the phone, is... a little like making love to a beautiful woman. In that you've gotta... lift the receiver, put it to your ear, speak ...loudly and clearly ... oh, yes - and don't forget to state your name.
BEING IN THERAPY
And yet, having therapy is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You ... get on the couch, string 'em along with some half-lies and evasions, probe some deep dark holes, and then hand over all your money.
BEING IN A CRASH: Going to the brink of death and back, in a nine car pile-up on a dual carriage-way, is ... very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First of all, brace yourself, hold on tight - particularly if it's a rear-ender. And pray you make contact with her twin airbags as soon as possible.
GOING FISHING: Of course, As you know, I'm a very keen fisherman myself. You know, I've
often thought that going fishing was very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First of all, clean and inspect your tackle, carefully pull back your rod over, and remove any dirt or gunge that may have built up whilst not in use. Then, extend your rod to its full length, and check that there are no kinks or any wear. Particularly at the base, where the grip is usually applied. Make sure you've got a decent float, the appropriate bait, and that there's plenty of shot in your bag.

So what's the explanation to "Drinking free beer is very much like making love to a beautiful lady"??
Jimbo
Jan 20 2004, 9:34 am
No - only Brits have seen it I expect - it's called 'The Fast Show' - here is a page of quotes relating to the character the above quote is from: <a href='http://coma.tky.hut.fi/~horse/files/fastshow_scripts/swiss.htm'>http://coma.tky.hut.fi/~horse/files/fastsh...ripts/swiss.htm</a>
These are the same guys that did the Dutch policemen...
EDIT: Keydeck beat me to it, even with a picture of Swiss Toni there...
The free beer bit Sparty is just me changing the gag a little...
and for the ladeez? Or do we have to turn up and act like lesbians?...
I think, seeing as its Jimbo, we all know what the answer to thats going to be

You peeps planning on hanging around for a bit? I don't get out of class until 8.15 and would very much like to celebrate my 2 week anniversary in Munich (or whatever other excuse we can come up with - I'm an asshole! Prost!).
Most people hang a round for a while, Jimbo, 3 lions and sparty are often there till close...
so we'll see you later!

I'll stick to the Swiss Tony line because I am more likely to remember it (I have no fear of the gay) although I am still not drinking beer so someone else can have my token (apart from Sparty who got the token last week).

As promised, here's my suggestion:
Vraag:Waarom is er in Holland geen Mc Drive?
Antwoord: Omdat men met de caravan de bocht niet haalt.
Now, do I get my beer voucher without pronouncing it in Dutch?

Hoho, not so fast...it's just a suggestion. It would sound really funny though if you pronounce that in Dutch...

I'll give it a go. I would be intrigued to see if speaking actual Dutch words, but with the obvious Harry Enfield dutch accent alsho actually sounds even slightly Dutch.

Jan 26 2004, 10:52 am
Ok, here is tomorrow's phrase to get your voucher. Thanks for the suggestions, but I chose this one because this is a Dutch phrase which is very similar to the German translation.
The phrase is:
"In de hemel is geen bier, daarom drinken we het hier!"
I am looking forward to the accent attempts

Damn right you can. Be wary of slipping into a poor Shaun Connery impression though, I've seen it happen, and it ain't pretty sunshine.
I'll be flying back from the filthy pit they refer to as Manchester on tuesday night, so I won't be able to try out the Dutch phrase. Booooo.
