I'll most likely not be along this week either - my favoured location is Max E - purely selfish reasons though, as it's right by my flat, and tho it's not too far to the Touch Rugby pubs, to be perfectly honest I often can't be arsed to make the trek.

Will anyone be going earlier?

it's behind Mittlerer Ring so it IS far outside - in my opinion at least too far outside for a mid-week meet up

Well, no one says you have to go. They aren't going to force you to travel. Might be nice for the people who live in the north who are always coming into town.
Having said that, I doubt I'll be there, but that's not unusual.

I sometimes bike by it on my way to/from work, nice beer garden. It's really only a 10 min. bike ride up from Seehaus so I wouldn't call it way outside the city!

Aug 10 2004, 9:25 am
ok, ok... I feel a little bad having suggested the
Aumeister and not even going to go. But, for the record, it is a 12 min u-bahn ride from
Marienplatz to Stu-Stadt and then a 10 minute walk, or a 4 km bike ride from the Seehaus bridge over the autobahn. This is no further than going to Augustiner by
Hauptbahnhof. As for Jimbo, not everyone can go to him, and at some point it is nice to branch away from Gunther Murphy's and the standard Leopoldstr outings.
Now, to please the masses and the rugby players - I suggest you all go to the tried and true
Chinese Tower. Oldie but goodie.
As for us in the north, maybe we could go to the Aumeister sometime ourselves? Or if we all have bikes, I like to do the beer garden tour (hit the Aumeister, Hirschau, Seehaus, and Chinese Tower in one day), but this requires at least a long afternoon!

If you have a whole day you could add St. Emmeran & Klein Hofbraugarden as they are both between Hirschau and Aumeister

So where are the beers this evening? I am going to try and come along for one before my 415am start in the office.
So, after failing to see a definite descision - I put forward the following
Chinese Tower from 730pm - thus allowing rugby people to join if they so wish.

OK, Chinese Tower, but why from 7:30? Prefer going there straight from work rather than going home first. So how about 6pm or 6:30. Is anybody coming that early? If not, there's not much point in me coming b/c I prefer not to sit around there alone.

I reckon knowing what seating can be like we will be around the areas 1, 2 or 3
If people want they can PM for a handy number, but I will only be there until 2130.
Anyone calling me after 2130 will suffer a painful death! (some of us are wrking at 4am)

Gutted, Aumeister is not only closer to home, but is one of my favourite places to drink beer, and is really near to my all-time favourite place to drink beer - Klein Hofbraugarden. Fantastic place, loads of dogs (canine variety) to play with.
Well, Chinese Tower is a bit of a trek unless I go straight after work, so I reckion I'll be having a couple opf early doors drinks in the shitty Garcing Hochbruck biergarten. Only advantage being that the service is ace, because I am the only punter.

Are you suggesting I drink in GMs too much? For the record I've only been once in the last month, tho that will now pick up as the Premiership starts on Saturday! Hurrah! A sport we can talk about on TT that isn't related to egg shaped balls...

Aug 10 2004, 12:09 pm
not at all Jimbo, I'm sure you've been at Max E most this summer. You'll understand though if I would like to visit a beer garden in stumbling distance of my home from time to time. And, after all, your argument of "I can't be arsed", although envoking deep sympathy from us that spend all our lives in Garching, is not exactly persuasive. So, at some point when the weather is good and the calender not so full, I'll suggest a Northern tour of the gardens.

OK, if I'm going to be first and opening the TTT, I'll try and grab a table where we were last time, i.e. on the right side of the tower (directly next to it) if your coming from the beer stand, b/c chances are there might be tables available there. I should be there around 6:30pm. PM me for my mobile # if you wish.

Yup, great place. Always about 10 locals, 10 dogs and me doing my German homework there

I pass by St. Emmeran (or Aumeister depending on route choice), Klein Hofbraugarden, Hirschau, Seehaus & Chinese Tower on the way home but only seem to ever stop at Klein Hofbraugarden (for the same reasons as you) and Hirschau (I like the Jazz music ... better than Oompah and kinda chill).

Max Emanuel.
Nice garden, space inside if it gets a bit messy, and lots of houses for the ligtening to strike first?

One of those houses is mine, but yes, it is more covered, and as previously stated online, if it's right outside my house, I'll probably nip in for a cheeky Maß or three.

Who can roll in there around 6 or so? Best to get the tables nearest the building.

I should be able to get there relatively early myself, but I'm gonna eat at home first. As DW says, the ones right near the building on a raised wooden platform are best - the weather looks great right now, so expect it to be busy - if the Touch Rugby lot are coming down tonight, they may struggle for seats if they're not gonna arrive until 8 - 8:30. See you guys later

Oli does speak some sense there - if the Touch Rugby lot do wanna come along, wouldn't it make more sense to have training on a Wednesday, when the only event is
curry night, which starts a fair bit later??? Come 8 or even 9 Max E will be packed out if the weather stays reasonable... Just my two cents as I don't do TR and therefore can arrive at Max E as late or as early as I please.

And theres absolutely nothing to stop anyone from TR going. The good thing about the Tuesday drinks is the change in location, I remember Keydeck organizing one right out somewhere one time(Cant remember where). Plus Tuesdays are now my German classes so I cant come along till at least 9pm anyway, and you can be sure that TT'ers will still be there there then.

dumb question...
it looks like its gonna piss it down outside, does that mean inside max e's ?
which is also nice.
plus i find it bloody convinient having rugby then beers, seems to go with the natural order of things, you can be sweaty and sociable

but do i detect some animosity here which i've missed amongst my travels

Guys, we agreed to keep TR stuff in the sports threads to stop it flooding into other topics.. anyone has any issues with TR, pls feel free to air them there.
but to answer your point Oli, it's the best night for the players as doesn't mess with courses etc ...and they still get to come along for a beer... just logic.

I don't understand why people who don't play touch rugby are even commenting about what night it's played. Why should it matter to them?
But to stay vaguely on topic, I doubt I'll be there, even with it being around the corner, as it looks like rain. I'm not so happy with the inside of Max Em as I am with the outside.
