Someone I was talking to the other day, said that he had seen a Dunkin' Donuts somewhere in Munich? Does anyone know where it is? For us Americans, Dunkin' Dognuts is arguably the best coffee in the world.

Odd story I was just reminded of:
I was in my hometown of White Plains, NY a few years ago and got a coffee at Dunkin Donuts. The guy behind the counter put the lid on my coffee, then proceeded to draw on it with a pen. As this happens at coffee places all the time (to differentiate orders) I thought nothing of it. A few minutes later while drinking my coffee I noticed he had drawn a swastika. No clue as to why.
@MS: Indeed, just found the one in Berlin!

Krispy Kreme rocks, I wish there were a Krispy Kreme here. But, then again it gives me something to look forward to when I go home.

Not only do I completely disagree with that statement (just had a coffee at a Dunkin' Donuts in NYC a few months pack), but I've never, ever heard someone make such a claim. First of all, American coffee is for the most part crap, particularly anything you could find at a donut shop. Second, the Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting Company certainly has the best American coffee east of Kona. I don't know where you're from, but perhaps it's an east coast thing...
I do, however, think that the DD cream-filled donuts are outstanding! Krispy Kreme is great for fresh, hot-off-the-conveyer-belt glazed, but those cream-filled donuts are a tasty, sugar-high heaven.

There is a Dunkin' Donuts in Prague near the Museum tube stop, which is probably closer than Berlin. I went there every day when I was in Prague 2 years ago. Mmmmmmm...I still have some fat cells left in my body today from those donuts!!

@interplanetjanet
Dunkin Donuts IS an East Coast thing, at least it seems to be. People go nuts over the stuff there and though
Starbucks is also really popular, which is more expensive and bitter tasting and not as cherished by most (at least Bostonian's), I personally don't think it holds a candle to D&D. (By the way, for a hilarious look at coffee and recent flavoring trends, check out Denis Leary's spiel on coffee - the guy's a genius.)
I'd like to own a D&D someday. In the right location, the place is a goldmine. Anyone want to buy a francise with me?
Of course, coffee, like many things, is all about personal taste, so it's pointless to start arguing about which is tastier... unless you just like to argue.
Cheers.

Went for about two years to a Dunkin Donuts on the way to school through the Fleet Center in Boston everyday for my 'second breakfast' and got a Number One special which was medium hazlenut and two doughnuts. Didn't gain a pound either for two years, btw.
D n D. Large quantities of sip-able coffee. Lighter side of things. 24 ouncers to go!
S.Bucks. Heavier coffees. Often bitter and needs milk or ton of sugar to even it out.
Italian/Brazilian coffee- depends how you brew it but tends to be nicely balanced as far as flavor goes.
German coffee- I find it highly acidic about 100% of the time. It tends to turn my stomach and make me feel like I have heartburn coming on. Plus if you go out to have your coffee, it comes in about a one to five ounce cup with enough coffee crammed into it to make two- sixteen ounce cups if you were to add hot water.
So I prefer to wander the coffee aisles and choose my italian coffees if I can find them and brew them at home in a large pot each morning. None of this pressurized steam shooting through a capful of finely ground beans making a black syrup that you have to hold your nose to drink.
imho
Coffee. It's a good vice.

for many years there used to be a dunken's in the students union in university college dublin... there absolutely AMAZING sandwichs and boston cremes nourished me through my student days... no coffee for me then though, nice cups of tea!!!
i think they then pulled out of ireland and somebody took over the franchise and called it 'nine one one'... the donuts were never the same but the sandwiches were still good...
i would love to open a good 'sliced bread' sandwich shop in munich... maybe an o'briens... but where, oh where, would one get the sliced bread? (has to be about a half inch think and doughy soft)

Reason: Every time I see it as the latest topic it reads "Dunkin Donuts in Munich" and I keep getting excited.
I miss my DD coffees

I bring back a pound of DD coffee whenever I go to the states or have someone bring one when they visit. While that is very nice, it's just not the same as stopping at one for a fresh cup.

I guess by now we heard pretty much everything about
Starbucks... just for the record, I'm not a big fan either.
Anyway, I was in Berlin last weekend and apart from a few Starbucks (no, I didn't count them) I also noticed a few Dunkin' Donuts - now my question
"Do we want or need Dunkin' Donuts in Munich?"
I heard Krispy Kreme is so much better anyway, and since they're not doing so well anymore in the States, maybe they wanna expand...

I don't really know Dunkin Donuts - would they compete directly with the nice Kaffee-und-Kuchen/Konditorei places we have down here? Or are they more donuts "to go"? I don't really know anywhere down here that do cakes "to go", so I guess there would be a market for it, if that's the kind of thing they offer.

Maybe... Dunkin' Donuts is where a cop goes to get a fix. KKreme was the big buzz in the US (Americans were/are nuts over them, but then 95% of Americans could taste quality even if you hit them with a bottle of Petrus)... both are like the McDs of pastries.
Don't get me wrong, the US has some great donuts (and different than the stuff you'll find here). However
Another funny thing is that upscale coffee places (and Starfucks) in the US won't have donuts... they have bagels (makes the masses feel like "I gots me some class").

The only reason why Krispy Kreme donuts are so great is because they serve them right off the conveyer belt. Nothin' beats a Dunkin Donuts creme-filled donut. Mmm.

McDonalds doesn't count as real doughnuts. They come Frozen and are thawed out overnight for the

Krispy Kreme in the UK - hideously sweet nasty things (but I am not North American and that shit hurts my teeth just to look at it).
Their map also puts Basildon in the Home Counties ha ha ha ha
Dunkin' Donuts is also nasty - they used to have lots of branches in Birmingham (the real one, not that US upstart) and my then boyfriend would buy 12 and eat 12. It wasn't attractive.

when was at Uni there used to be a 7-11 on the way home from the Uni-bar, which sorted by post alocoholic binging cravings: Lemon-Chicken and Mayo sarnies, a bottle of coke and washed down with Dunkin' Donuts Boston Cremes that they also stocked. no wonder i am a fat bastard!

Everytime someone asks me what I miss the most in the States, I say 'Dunkin'Donuts blueberry muffins'. They are huge with big tops and moist!, not these itty bitty dried out muffins you get from the *cough*San Francisco Coffee Company(which, by the way, I will never go to again!).
And, once in awhile, I'll enjoy a chocolate creme filled donut - pure heaven!

Problem still is that both DD and KK come from the "lead density" school of donuts... some (probably most based on supply/demand that they both go that route). I like the airy, more fluffy donuts - more subtle and refined in the mouth with a hint of cherry and oak

... and you don't feel like you're eating pure fried lard with chocolate frosting on top.
But given the US is driven by most grams of fat for your money I can see how the high density donuts win over the low density ones (Hmmm, may need to check DD, KK and other donuts with a density meter

)
