I'm just about to head off to the PO to send a book. Is there a special rate for sending books? I thought there might be.

Ask for a Büchersendung.

But make sure you don't seal the package - they have to be able to open it.

Use those funny metal things for closing the envelope; they're called "Musterbeutelklammern" in German. You also use these to send items by Warensendung.

Thanks!! both of you, it worked out perfectly and much cheaper than normal smile.gif

Wow, this is great to know, especially as I'm going to get an account on bookswapper.de soon and will probably have to post books.

Just remember they are serious about the packet being able to be opened at all times, those Musterbeutelklammern are the only way to go, close the envelope with two or three of them in a row.
