This Thursday (26th August 2004) is the
TT Summer Lounge Party at Harpers and Queens.
Of the hundreds of TT events that happen throughout the year, this is the big one.
Harpers and Queens is widely considered one of the very best bars in Munich. Just ask anyone who's been! The TT party at H&Q
last Summer is the event that all subsequent parties have been compared to.
Note that fire regulations and comfort factors mean that the number of tickets must be restricted to 230. Over half of those are taken already and they'll probably sell out completely before the night.
If you haven't done so already, reserve your
ticket(s) here.
Update:- Tickets are now sold out.
- Entry is free (even to non-ticket holders) after 11pm (capacity allowing)
- Bar is open til 3am.
- Dress code: smart casual

l went to the the one at H&Q last year and l thought it was really good. Better than the zweite heimat thing and also better than the no barstaff party near the Mathaser cinema. Looking forward to it.
l also know two people who met last year at the h&q party for the first time and they got married this year. weird thing is that she's pregnant and is due to give bith on 26th Aug - the date of the next h&q party - freaky
Well done on sorting this out Editor Bob, maybe you should be a godparent or something?

and 26th August is my Dad's birthday...spooky, hey?
Seriously though - this one should be good and I can't see a good reason why I won't be there for what will probably be my last TT party.

The first party at Harpers & Queens was definitely the best, so well done to Ed. Bob for getting the venue again. I'll be there for sure. Hope it turns out as well as it did last time...

Spooky! It's 238 days after my birthday.
Don't know if I/we will be back in town yet. The year doesn't officially start for me till Sept 15.
I thought they boarded up the shops and closed down the
MVV for the summer here while everyone went to Italy or something.

I got word from Bob that tickets are starting to sell, so I would go ahead and buy yours. The Harpers and Queens party last year was easily the best, and they have more sofas and seats this year. I love this bar!

Ok, the place had AC. Ok, the place had awesome overpriced cocktails. But, that was it!
No place to dance and what the hell was with the beer sortiment?
€3.70 for a piss ant 0.33l Becks! And the worst was that the bartenders assumed I would pay €4 and never gave me that extra 30 cents back, no matter what denomination of currency I paid with. I may be American, but I live in Germany and I will tip when and what I like when the service is outstanding and is deserved. This is not America where you make 2.01 an hour and live off of tips. This is Bavaria and a €3.70 piss ant beer is too frigging much.
Sorry, but when a bar has a garaunteed crowd of over 200 on a Thursday night, the least they could do is serve a better variety of beer at a reasonable price. I hope some of the profits are going to Editor Bob and Toytown, otherwise I will never attend another event at such an outrageously priced place again.
Wife had the shrimp and it was good for the price, but there was nothing else worth ordering on the menu for beer snacks. Chicken wings with a
sweet sauce, huh? Tomato and cheese?
I would have rather been at the ARC or a back-yard Bar-B-Q!
Hey and how about a program? I mean, there are so many faces without TT names. I am sure some of the people would get up and reveal their identities. I would have. Name is Randy (Geil in German), Mr Eurovol if your nasty.
Seriously, the place was too small, the drinks overpriced, no dance floor and nothing to snack on. My kind of place, NOT!

BUT, the crowd was great!

good morning everyone!!! although I may sound cheerful I don't feel cheerful. great party last night!! big thanks to editor bob for organizing, and finally nice to meetcha. red wine makes a big difference when drinking, no head pounding hangover.
had a great night indeed, lots of people turning up i hadn't seen for a while.
But must say i've serious doubt about the place. It's clearly a lounge bar where you go to have a couple of relaxed drink. For that purpose i think it's a cool place and the music was very ok. But it just is the wrong place to have a party like this, way too expensive and questionable service (why can't they just ask for tips).

Aug 27 2004, 8:44 am
Well, I had a good time, but as always that was due to the people, not the location. Don't think H&Q is anything special, but it did the trick.
Big hello to all the new faces I met and especially to the nice LURKERS.

I only put my head round the door for an hour or so as the cold was still taking its toll, but it seemed like a pretty good little shindig to me - I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect venue, and especially not in Munich - I did like the DJing now I come to think of it, though I wasn't so convinced by the temperature of my first beer.

Dont remember you getting up and telling everyone who your were? Seriously, there is a life beyond TT, how about asking someone their
real name?
As for H&Q, still my favourite venue for the TT parties. Hats off to Ed Bob for organising this again. As for prices, come on people what do you expect when you go in there? You can see immeadiately that the prices are going to be higher than average.
@Eurovol - if you've been to any of the other TT party venues, then you will see that H&Q has been the best one so far.
Enormous hangover this morning, glad I came along at 11pm

Aug 27 2004, 9:08 am
Yeah, it was a pretty funky place, I agree and the prices and service go with the territory.
It's nice to feel glam every now and again. Probably summat to do with all the MDC people there - as we all know they are a social stratum above us grubby TT types
