This year: early Sunday morning 19.Nov.2006

Leonids are coming to town. Although the meteor shower won't be as spectacular as it was in 1998, or in 2002, it should still be worth watching.

The only down side is that the most intense part of the show will only last for a few hours, reaching its peak at the utterly horrible time of 4:45 (GMT) on Sunday morning. By then, the meteors should be visible at a rate of around 150-200 per hour, so all you have to do is hope for clear skies.

watcha,

I saw some of these years ago on my way to work. any idea what the view will be like from the uk and times etc

Well, as MadGolfer gave the time as Greenwich Mean Time, it's likely peaking at 4:45 in the UK. It's a bit more northerly here, but you'll still get a fine view with a clear sky and not too much light pollution.

Well here in Holzkirchen I am usually smug to myself about how clear the skies get but this evening the cloud cover is thick as hell so I sit here bored.

I was awake at 5:20 UK time and didn't see anything either. Just planes getting ready to land at Heathrow. dry.gif But I didn't look for long, to be honest.

Nice homepage by someone about them: http://hometown.aol.com/theleonids/

It was cloudy up here sad.gif

A couple of years ago there was a meteor shower towards the end of Summer - with clear skies.
We took two garden chairs across the road onto field opposite us, lent them back & waited.
Saw two streaks of light... The neighbours must have thought we were mad smile.gif

Best place we ever had for seeing meteors was from the balcony of hotel on Ibiza looking South-East.
Dont think they were associated with a shower (nor with Sangria) - muist have been just background...

I have never managed to see the Leonids after 16 years of living in Deutschland. It has always been overcast or cloudy or rainy at the time. mad.gif Same thing happend the other day with the comet-business, simply not possibly due to the crap weather. I rest my case.
