Thursday night drinks in Berlin

Why is it that the mods have got into the habit of archiving the passing of the baton or even the new location??

The archiving system is automatic. All posts before midnight Sunday to Monday are archived. Perhaps the cut-off date is too late though? I just pushed it back a couple of days to midnight Friday to Saturday. Maybe that'll help?

Hey all. Thursday is Fete de la Musique. You'd be stupid not to meet somewhere with free live music. Just my two cents.

so has someone picked a place then? and/or tod- would you're two cents also include a said 'live music venue'?

oh.. well, i'll have to get the schedule from my girlfriend and see what looks best. Anyone have preferred music types? Also, starting at 1AM is USA v. Canada in the Gold Cup

Looks like Kreuzberg, F'hain and Mitte have lots of stages. Saw Pfefferberg, YAAM, Strandgut, Freischwimmer, etc. in the list.

Alas, I might have to stick close to home...was planning on hitting the Frida Kahlo/Helmholtzplatz stage...aunt will be in town so may not want to walk too far.

As no one can make their mind up about where to go or what to do tomorrow, I thought perhaps we could just say this: let's meet at Oststrand (behind the East Side Gallery on Muehlenstrasse, at Ostbahnhof), and if the weather is no good, we can head to Tempo Box, which is on the corner of Gruenberger Str and Kopernikus Str (Friedrichshain).

I know it's the Fete de la Musique, and we should do something to do with that, but no one seems to want to make a definite suggestion, and all the places that I have been to or at least heard of, which have stages, seem to have music from genres such as HipHop, Deutsch-Musik and Elektro...there are a couple that sound a bit better, but I don't know the bars, and it may not be to everyone's taste anyway.

If people desperately want to go to Fete de la Musique, they could always set up a rival event?!

How does that sound??? That means, 8pm, meet at Oststrand, if it starts to rain, head to Tempo Box. Let me know if that sounds ok for everyone...or do we still want to leave it open and see how the weather is tomorrow closer to the time???

Ah well, we all know that the weatherman isn't always right... So great, a positive response! I don't know about anyone else, but I actually have limited internet access during the day (not working in an office), so this may be the last chance I'll get to check the website. I will assume my plan is being put into action. (Well, I guess I could always text someone nearer the time...but for newbies that's not really an option, so on behalf of anyone who doesn't know the rest of the group...I'd suggest it's now too late to change these plans).
I know it's a little less organised than usual, but hey, I'm sure it'll work out in the end. Oh, and also, Tempo Box is cheap and has nice staff!
I will unfortunately not be there at 8 on the dot, as I'm working, but should be there by half past 8. I'll see you there! (Either Oststrand, Tempo Box, or wandering around lost and confused, somewhere in between the two...!)

I'm going to go with Katzchen's plan. If it's cleared up weatherwise outside, if not indoors at Tempo Box. I think this week's thursday night drinks is going to be a bit random because of the music fest thingy and people having different tastes. We'll do our best to meet up with people (new people definately more than welcome) and we'll organise something a bit more normal next week.

I'll be wearing my cowboy hat tonight, which makes me a bit easier to spot.

The closest U and S Bahn is Warschauer Str...or Frankfurter Tor is also quite close if that is better for you. Hope this doesn't come too late... This really is going to be a random week! I was going to choose my favourite bar but Stubbs couldnt make it last time, and wouldnt make it this week, so I am gonna hold off for her!

Eh. Scotch and Sofa always looks like it might be good, then you go in and find it's full of annoying bastards. Which is, I'm sure, partly due to the fact that it's in Pberg, and partly due to the fact that my presence instantly raises the annoying bastard level.

On the other hand, it's seven minutes from my flat, and two from HM. So I wouldn't be too put out if we went there.

Um, so, yikes. Should we try to have drinks somewhere around Ostbahnhof so some of us can get to the concert if we're crazy enough? The show allegedly starts at 21:00 (doors at 20:00), but there are two opening acts, so he won't go on for a while.
