Thursday night drinks in Berlin

No such luck but beggars can't be choosers!

After all of that hullabaloo I sadly couldn't make it (work). Hopefully next week where I look forward to breaking in my new slippers.

the baton is up in the air. Basically first person who posts a Name and Address for a bar that isn't rediculously expensive and where we'd manage to fit 20 or so odd random English speakers, gets to chose the bar.

It is a long walk to get there but it's worth it.I dont know if they will happly have 20 odd english speakers there on a normaly quiet thurs day night.

not being a massive fan of "tiki", i would suggest "möbel olfe" (again). no baton-holding for me though. i probably won't be there early enough to grab tables/organise things, etc.

I still think Goldman's Bar at the Circus Hostel at Rosenthaler Platz would be a great place for drinks especially with 2-4-1 Warsteiner pints from 9-10. Although it may be hard to distinguish our group from the countless other loud English speakers normally in attendance.

Sounds intersting. 2-4-1 is always good - even if it is Warsteiner!

So the final vote for this week...? (thinking 241 sounds good myself...although we did do a hostel bar last week...)

I happened to walk by there one evening. It's perfectly fine and I even asked the owner if it would be a problem for a larger group to come by. He said it'd be fine, just as long as one of us speaks German. It is certainly large enough. Drink prices are fine and they have a large selection on tap including one of my favorites, Beamish (Irish stout).

I know I haven't been so often to the Thursday night drinks (Brian Davies, in case your wondering), but when I saw the place I knew it would be perfect.

Anyway, let me know, so I can plan to be there right at 20:00.

Word just in - the Voodoo Lounge is closed! First arrivals have gone to Hairy Mary's, Diedenhofer Strasse 5.

So there was a tiny mix up last week due to the holiday, but the fantastic news is that this week will be one of the best Thursday nights ever! It's going to be really nice out this Thursday, so we're going to take it outdoors.

Someone had a suggestion for a beer garden...? If no one puts one up by tomorrow eve I'll find one to post myself.

Okay, I'll throw "Prater" (Kastanienallee) out there as a selfish act of not wanting to have to go too far from home...

Serena, I hereby nominate you to name next week's Kberg location now, so that we've got that out of the way. But admit it: you love Prater Garten as much as the rest of us.

Jen, I'd wear my cowboy hat so we stand out, but I might not be there early enough. (It depends on how quickly I wrap up my appointments in Hamburg.) Anyone else want the cowboy hat? I can bring it to you at HM tonight for Schuyler's going-away party.

Which brings up another point: everyone come to Hairy Mary's tonight and bid Schuyler farewell. He's leaving town for good tomorrow.
