Yeah there is all of the above! But since you dont know us, just have a look at some of our profiles, although globalgirl says mine looks nothing like me! Hers on the other hand is a very good likeness!
See you all tomorrow, the excitement is already building...Oi Katzchen, it better be bloody good!!!

JTW kind of looks like himself, or a hermit in Idaho. Oh wait, that's me. Either way. Nevermind.
I like to think mine is a pretty good likeness as well, thank you very much.
Jokes and jokes and jokes and jokes and spaghetti, spaghetti.
And what does oi mean anyway? I mean, it's not really even a word, is it?
Katzchen
Feb 28 2007, 7:06 pm
"oi: interjection, British English, spoken Used to call someone or attract their attention in a way that is not very polite" - straight from the dictionary, so there you go. Yes, it is a real word, and yes, this time I am willing to forgive ScotsLass for attracting my attention "in a way that is not very polite." Amn't I a nice person? (And no, "amn't" is not correct English, but when you speak my dialect, it is acceptable. So there you go). I promise I won't be quoting the dictionary tomorrow night, honest!!

QUOTE (Katzchen @ Feb 27 2007, 11:54 am)

Looks like all you P-Bergers really are too scared to venture all the way along the M10 to Friedrichshain! (With one or two exceptions, of course).
No seriously...I go to F-hain all the time...but I have work to do.

what time does this shindig go down? and how did i become a eunuch on the sign up sheet?

Feb 28 2007, 8:46 pm
Hi Nomadam. The gender on the signup sheet comes from your user profile. If you've nothing filled in there then you get Eunuch status.

Thanks for the lesson on the Eglish language Katzchen!
Wilcohawk, your picture is a very good likeness, I should know since I am not tall enough to see your head, so I just look at your ass all the time...ooops did I just write that!

Seriously, I might cry now since johnny cant come.
FYI, The Bird in P'Berg (where we had a pub night back in December) gives you a free shot of whiskey with every draft beer. Do with that information whatever your conscience and your constitution deem appropriate.
ETA: the whiskey special is only on Wednesday nights. They have other promotions on other nights. Hopefully less evil ones.

I find that Bird thing hard to believe, (but do, of course, believe you), and would like to see for myself. What street will I find this Bird? This is big news, and thanks jtw, I've noticed you providing valuable information on this site before, but this time you have surpassed yourself.
The Bird is in Prenzlauer Berg, Am Falkplatz 5, S/U Schönhauser Allee. It's also the reason I missed Thursday night drinks last night. Sorry folks, that's two strikes against me. I blame the whiskey.

Have you eaten the BigBird. I see it says if you eat the 750 g steak within 45 mins, you eat for free. Thats sounds easy enough to achieve!

Another Newbie and a German one :-)
I have been reading these posts for some time and quite like the spirit of it. I am wondering though: Can Germans join in too? I would love to practive my English in a non-work setting and meet some folks from around the world.

The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Are you a local? Maybe you could recommend somewhere with cheap beer and a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

I know you Toytowners love your beer, but the cocktails at Erdbeer are worth a try. Lots of booze for the buck and they know what they are doing. Had a strawberry caipiroshka last time I was there that was pure love, and the daiquiris will take you to a nice, warm, tropical place. I will be there!

There's a bizarre Irish pub run by Bulgarians on Lenbachstr. right next to the intersection of Wuehlischstr. and Boxhagenerstr. in Friedrichshain... could be amusing.

We were discussing this the other week. I'm going to start a topic called '
things I'm not doing tonight' for those of you not coming to these fantastic evenings. Cause frankly if you're not making it to Drinks night, I don't care... Essentially you're dead to me.
Just kidding. Sure we'll end up with a fantastic turn out as always. See you all thursday

Mar 13 2007, 11:37 am
Well, *I* am coming, mostly so I will continue to live in Globalgirl's eyes. But what's up with the venue? Any more info?
Alternatively, we *could* stay in Mitte and go to King Kong Klub, Brunnenstrasse 173.
http://www.king-kong-klub.de/Right by Rosenthalerplatz U-Bahn. But that's just me being lazy and leery of
Irish bars run by Bulgarians, espcially as it's almost St. Patrick's Day. Despite the name, King Kong is much more bar than club, although they do have DJs. Cheap drinks, smallish but should be plenty of space, and as I recall, comfy couches for lolling and lounging.
Anyone, anyone?
wiggle
Mar 13 2007, 11:41 am
Whoops, just noticed that they don't open until 9, so if we went to King Kong, we would have to meet later.
What do you guys think?

Since we have an actual address, and I'd rather not have the location decision hanging up in the air...
I second wiggle's choice in bar, and say we call it a later one this Thursday (later for us new to the berlin standard of later...) and meet at 9/9.30 ish.

Ok...drum roll...
This Thursdays Drinks will be held at 'The Chillout Lounge' on Shonhauser Allee 56.
I used to live above this bar and always wanted to try it out. It's only a few meters north of Eberswalder U-bahn and has astro turf stuff outside and hukas in the window. Went inside yesterday for the first time and it seemed pretty decent and not too expensive.
