Thursday night drinks in Berlin

I'm feeling particularly hairy...

Whoever left their keys at the bar tonight, we gave them to the bartender...

When leaving the bar last night a baton was found on the floor under a chair. If anyone would like to claim this baton, please contact the lost and found.

*ie. if anyone would like to have the honor of picking next weeks bar feel free to take the baton and put up a posting.

This is true -- I utterly failed to pass the baton. Any volunteers?

Thanks everyone for turning out to my obscure bar choice last night. It was absolutely packed in there -- just what I was hoping for.

Well, I think I will take the baton. And I am going to suggest Nemo at Oderberger Str. 46 in Prenzlauer Berg. Don't all die of shock... 20:00 as usual? UBahn is Eberswalder Straße

We were there last night and it was quite cool...€ 2.50 for a beer and a (small) selection of cocktails.

No, Berlin TTer's hate outsiders/newbies. In fact, none of us were ever newbies (or outsiders for that matter).

Anyway, just look at a couple of pictures (probably Wiggle or globalgirl would be good, they are fairly recognizable)...beyond that, we'll most likely be the only group of 10+ people hablando ingles (wrong language, I know). But yeah. There you have it.

I was planning on commandeering the raised area to the right as you come into the bar. Have a look at the profile photos too before you head out. That's what I did on my first meet up - globalgirl is hard to miss! How about adding a photo of yourself so that we can maybe spot you?

I just changed my flight for tomorrow, so I get back to Berlin in the afternoon rather than in the middle of the night. (I didn't change it just so I could make it to Nemo, but then again, how often does Serena leave K'berg? That's worth celebrating.) Anyway, count me in.

Hey, so is there any food at Nemo?

Haven't been there in awhile, but I think they have bar food and snacks like toasties and things. And a friend of mine who was quite a regular there seemed very fond of the soup.

The guy at the table next to us at the weekend had a poor excuse for a sandwich. But then again it was 11:30!!

there used to be a really decent place for (takeaway if you want) Pizza at the next junction, but the area is full of good falafel/schawarma/döner/whatever places anyway. Don't worry, you won't go hungry in that part of town.

Actually, I got invited to an early dinner with the seminar speaker, so I will be fed, but will probably be getting to the bar a little late.

Arg I wont be there yet again...so much to do so little time...

It's easy to get to from either Warschauer Str U and S Bahn, or Frankfurter Tor U Bahn, or even the M13 or M10 trams...so no excuses! I will, as ever, be late due to work, but I trust that globalgirl and ScotsLass will be there nice and early to start the night with a bang! That ok??

Looks like all you P-Bergers really are too scared to venture all the way along the M10 to Friedrichshain! (With one or two exceptions, of course). Well, as long as my favourite Florida-lover is there, so we can talk about suntans and Mickey Mouse, I'm sure it'll be a blast. The rest of you clearly don't know what you're going to be missing out on! Maybe if no one else turns up, I might actually get a seat this week...hm, I'm beginning to regret asking everyone along

It is with great regret that I have to inform you that I too will be unable to attend this weeks Thursday Night Drinks. I am deeply saddened by the prospect of missing such a special Thursday Night but I would like to urge all of you to go along and enjoy yourselves despite this situation.

Just kidding, I'm sure nobody will even notice my absence! I do apologise to Katzchen though but I have a very good excuse of possible employment!

Will hopefully see you all at a later date though.

I am flying into Berlin on thursday for a week, doing the i'm sure tried and tested 'property hunt'...
This site has been great for getting advice... although finding the property advice amongst dating pointers and how to spot women who are just after your money etc has been a challenge!
Was thinking of coming along thursday evening if you guys/girls will have me - my naive intuition, and half a dozen agents, is telling me that Friedrichshain is the right place, so the venue works great for me
Then, maybe you can tell me over a beer why I'm so wrong...?

I guess everyone's dotted all over, so I'll mostly get to meet those in the east - is getting around a mission?? I hear the trains/tube are better than London...

Especially within the city, the public transport is great. The only catch is that the S/U-Bahn, trams, etc stop running between midnight at one on weeknights. But there are also night buses that parallel most of the U-Bahn lines.

The search engine http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/fahrplanauskun...en&modul=m1 is very useful; you can enter your starting and ending addresses, and it will show you the transit connections at a given time, and even provide walking maps to and from the relevant stations/stops.

Yeah, OFTHR, Friedrichshain is THE place to be! Hopefully see you on Thursday, then. Oh, and yes, the transport system is usually really good - it's easy enough to get to most places.
