[quote]Golgatha beer garden in Viktoria Park. The address is Dudenstrasse 48 - 64 and the nearest transport is U-Bahn: Yorckstrasse (U7) and Platz der Luftbrücke (U6); S-Bahn: Yorckstrasse (S1, S2); Bus: M19 Yorckstrasse, 140 Katzbachstrasse or 104 Dudenstrasse. The 140 bus is, in my opinon, the closest stop and the bus stops at Mehringdamm.[quote]
This were the instructions the last time we went there.

Any idea's for this weeks venue? The first person to post a suitable venue get's to choose, so if you're like to pick a bar near you..
Doesn't look like the weather is going to be fantastic this week so probably an indoor venue, with enough space for up to 40 to squeeze in un-announced, would be best.

Hi
I am moving to Berlin from Orkney, Scotland at the end of August to teach. I know no-one so if you will have me, I would like to come along to the first night in September to get to know some bodies.
I'm hoping to end up living in either Charlottenburg or Wilmersdorf. So suggestions would be very grateful!
Hope to see you all soon

The more the merrier. We usually have a group of at least 30 to 50 people (was a really large crowd last Thursday and ended up taking over most of the bar) with around half the group being newbies. It's a great way to mix and meet new people.
There's also tons of other events during the week or weekends to check out, for example a few people were talking about organizing a meet up in the park. maybe piggy backing onto the football in the park meetups on saturdays.

Where to this week? The first person to suggest a suitable location to hold 30+ random English speakers gets to choose. So if you want it near you this week..

OIRISH BARS ARE BAD
Oh lord save us not that fucking place its so grim and its a Irish bar it must be a unwritten rule but TT as far as I know has never gone to and irish bar ..that place is so bad, NO no no.But i do have a alternative suggestion if your stuck on the whole irish thing (I know I am not) but the harp in c.burg is nice.
"The
Oscar wilde" ...don't ever go there. Its full every night of the week of drunken Brits watching football and its expensive.
and "The Kilkenny" ... just as grim but with the added disadvantage of being under a train station. They do buckets of Redbull and Vodka!!!

Last time we went to the Harp we got told to be quiet. Plus the beer is too expensive! What about Graffiti at Adenauerplatz?

yes Graffiti at Adenauerplatz? for now but leave it open to others to make a suggestion. I mean your school night activities are not that important to the greater good.

What do you all think of this cocktail bar right at Hackescher Markt?

The first Thursday night drinks was actually held in the
Oscar Wilde. We've also been to the overpriced/terrible service (actually can't tell if it was terrible cause there really wasn't any service at all) one in Charlottenburg (was it the Harp?) But I have to agree on the slim grim-ness of an irish bar in a run down shopping complex at zoo station.
Birthday people do tend to get priority in picking around here. The place looks decent, and we'll bring down the over yuppie-ness of the place with our jumbled group. But is there enough space? Looks a little full according to the photos, or was that just for an event? Would it maybe be possible to reserve a corner for our group?

Jul 14 2008, 2:39 pm
Yeah we'll call the bar and let them know. It's usually pretty empty when we go there, I think the photos are from special parties they have on occasion.

To be honest, it's a pretty easy place to get to from most areas - east-west S-Bahn, U8 to Xberg and one stop away from Friedrichshain for trains running north-south...

Jul 14 2008, 6:05 pm
Not really! Only "convienent" (sic) if you happen to live on the M1 tram route and not too many people do!
If you feel that way fuck off to alternative drinks because
Kreuzberg is just so easy to get to(!)

sheesh. it's just one thursday out of many people. no need to get so edgy people.
since we've got a couple suggestions on the table how bout we get a couple more votes. It's between an Irish bar at zoo station in the Europa center, or a coctail'ish bar (1a Lauschgift) at hackesher markt.
