Hey, I completely support TT getting some financial support. This really is a tremendous service that has had an invaluable effect on my stay here in Berlin. I didn't mean to start a negative campaign about the sponsorship. I am glad however to see that the original advert has been modified. It no longer reads that Belushi's is an occasional meeting place for Thursday night drinks. I felt that statement was trying a bit too hard to impact where we go.
Intersoup seems like a good choice. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

You could even go a bit further and say that why would anyone move to Germany and spend all their time speaking English on English-speaking websites
I dont see a problem with English speakers helping out others that dont speak German so well or need help with other things. I would not, however, go out to a Brit bar. It's like going on holiday and eating chips the whole bloody time, I live in germany now.
Touche that!

I'm the manager of the Belushi's . We are not suggesting that the Thursday drinks meeting place be at Belushi's regularly. This is more an opportunity for us as a bar to get into contact with a large group of English-speaking guests, as we do have all forms of sport (American, English, Irish) and this is one way of us getting more exposure in this market. We are NOT an American sports bar but we do cater to the sports fan.

P.S. thanks to all that have given their feedback

@Aussiefox 73
Thanks for the clarification. 'Belushi's Bar is an American-style sports bar located in Mitte. It is popular with the English-speaking crowd for viewing televised sports such as NFL and NHL etc.' is the review description that Editor Bob has made a link to within Toytown. Perhaps you should see if could be amended to give a fairer description of what you have on offer?

when you've lived in Germany for 7 years, a "Brit bar" actually becomes exotic.

Hey Monty,
I could never work it out either- hence I'm always late- but I have a feeling that the strange "8pm" symbol in the title may be a clue.

I hardly think so, even worse if it's full of drunk Brits...

Mido - go to
www.berlin.de and use the "stadtplan" (city map) function
you can punch in Berlin addresses and it pulls up a map and the closest train station(s)
also, go out and get yourself a pocket good map of Berlin!

How about
Marietta Cafe Bar Lounge
Stargarder Str. 13 - Berlin Prenzlauer Berg
Really conveniently located, just 1 1/2 blocks or so from S & Ubahn stop Schoenhauser Allee
I passed by it on the way to Intersoup last week; it looks really cool and wasn't exactly heaving with people so great for us.
Open: MO-DO 10-2 Uhr SA,SO 10-4 Uhr

Unfortunately I wont be able to make it. I'm running away for Christmas. Going to spend a couple weeks soaking up as much English television (with real comercials!) , and eating as much cheddar cheese as possible.
The group got smaller last year for 1 or 2 weeks, but there's always still people around so I'm sure you'll still get a moderate size crowd turning up.
Have a fantastic Thirsty Christmas everyone!

I'll certainly come over to Marietta, too

What time are you going to meet up?

I'll probably be there between 8 and 9. If you show up at 8:30 someone will probably be there already.

Just remember that if you're one of the first few there to mention to the bar that you're with Toytown and where you're sitting so that any of the new people can ask and find you easily.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm a little under the weather, but I thought I'd get this started: anyone around and/or interested in a post-Christmas cool-down/ pre-New Years warm-up drinks...tomorrow? Any suggestions?

Dec 26 2007, 2:06 pm
I'm down and I know at least a handful of others are too. But I have no suggestions for a place... somewhere a bit festive perhaps?
Ali_in_berlin
Dec 26 2007, 3:48 pm
How about Dachkammer in Friedrichshain? It might not be that festive, but if there are fewer of us it might be a nice place to relax after all the Christmas madness.
The address is
Simon-Dach-Strasse 39
10245
Any other suggestions?
Dachkammer's a good idea. Last time I was there was in the summer, but I imagine it's nice and cozy in the winter. And there's no shortage of bars in the immediate area should it prove to be unsuitable.
Festive is good...if we can only come up with a place. There's always something like the German-food tent at the Gendarmenmarkt Weinachtsmarkt, with all the gluhwein, schwarzbier, and grunkohl one can desire, but it might be difficult to grab enough space, and while it's a heated tent, it's still technically outside.

Hi there!
I've got 2 awesome suggestions:
1.
Becketts KopfPappelallee 64
10437 Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg
2.
Zu mir oder zu Dir?Lychener Straße 15
10437 Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg
In both cases: nice location, delicious cocktails, friendly service, comfortable sofas, cozy atmosphere...

What else is missing?!...

I'm gonna have to vote for Dachkammer, but we should try out those places another time.

. What time should it be?

Cool...
Dachkammer
Simon-Dach-Strasse 39

Let's say around 8pm like always and people will dribble in when they feel like it?
Now if we could only edit this subject line we'd be really in the game.

I second the idea of going to Becketts sometime soon. Nice people behind the bar, tasty olives, and they claim to make the best White Russian in the world. Can't say for sure if that's true, but it is excellent.

I agree about going to Beckett's as well - maybe next week? I just thought it would be good to get out of Prenzlauer Berg this week for a change of scenery.

Beckett's Kopf is so small that you'll have no problem finding us. We'll be that group of 15-25 people trying to find somewhere to sit

Tongue-in-cheek aside, does anyone that's been to Beckett's Kopf think we can pull this off? I think we may end up taking over the entire bar...

I'm a maybe at this point. I keep looking outside of my office and seeing snow and windy trees blowing, and remembering how much I dislike coldness. Come back summer (or at least plus degree temperatures).
