Thursday night drinks in Berlin

Hey guys. I'm totally new to this forum and somewhat new to Berlin (although I studied here a few years ago if that counts). In any case, thought I'd join your group Thursday night for drinks if you don't mind having someone a bit green behind the ears hanging around.

Hey all. Just posting to make my introductions and to say that I'm hoping to make it out tonight (though I likely won't seeing as how a friendly, cold virus, once adrift without a home, has since set up camp inside me and apparently created quite the resilient society. From what I can tell, this little guy's got relatives in nearly every human in Berlin). I'll have to meditate on this choice for a bit: drinking and meeting people ... or German class tomorrow ...drinking and meeting ... German... hmmmm...

Anyway, have a great time tonight and hopefully, if I don't make it tonight, I'll get to meet you all next week.

Ok, so this week we're celebrating 1 year of 'Thursday Night Drinks' in Berlin. One fantastic year of making new friends and saying good goodbye to a few as well.

I was wanting to go to the pub of origin, but since everyone's been living at the Oscar Wilde because of the rugby, I figured perhaps we will go with the second venue instead (also a great deal cheaper...)

This weeks Thursday Night Drinks will be taking place at Morgenrot on Kastanian Allee and I expect to see everyone there (including all you lurkers who have been debating on coming along for weeks/months..)

I'll actually be in Toronto and Halifax this week, so away from all activities!

don't do it! it's never worth going to Toronto, whatever the reason.

ooooh i should totaly come to this...but alas...i shall be in Nice (well...ok...somewhere in France...but the French train people are striking...so who knows exactly...) but when i make it back to berlin...i Promise to go to a thursday night out...!

Im new around here, but have been in Berlin for going on 2 years or so, but wouldnt mind meeting some more English speakers.

What can i expect to encounter if i decided to pop along to your weekly drinks?

Expect a usually loud (although maybe not quite so loud this week without certain people coming..) group of english speakers. Usually people from all over the world, however this week we're instigating a new restriction against Torontonians. sorry, we just can't have this many of you congregating in one place. sorry.

Usually one of the first few people to arrive will let the bar know where to point people if anyone asks for the Toytown group.

Wow, all the trouble I caused just by saying I was flying to Toronto tomorrow...Who knew???

It's turning into a mini ""Feeling Out of Place and Massively Frustrated, except its Toronto" thread.

It's all said in jest. as long as I personally never have to step foot in that city again, I don't really have anything against the people (especially the ones that got out...)

FYI: nothing official yet, but there's a good chance that there'll be more DB strikes tomorrow ...
the union is even trying to stop the long distance trains.

I've been in Berlin for about 6 weeks as a visiting student. I look forward to meeting the group tonight.

I'm new to Berlin! Been here for almost 3 weeks now and am planning on staying for a year. (Pending finding a job :s) I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I hope to make it out tonight to meet all of you lovely English-speaking people, but we'll see how the day goes.

Bringing a friend along (she's visiting from NY)... hope that is okay! It is my first time coming so if brining someone is a faux pas, well, she's not with me!!!
