I'm finally not speechless anymore. It wasn't cool that a black persona was used. I spent a fair amount of time worrying that my African American friend would decide to come to drinks, arrive before any of us that know him, and then have to face a group of justifiably irritated people. There's enough racism out there, hell, we English speaking Caucasians experience some of it too, that we don't need to perpetuate that kind of shit amongst ourselves. I know we aren't racist, but I shudder to think how many of us had a mental image of a black man named Jamal who we were going to dropkick ( that was my punishment of choice anyway).

Marcj I am trying really hard at the moment to credit you with being well educated politically aware nice intellegent person, but under the circumstances I am finding it really hard to do, wether you wrote those comments or not why on earth would anyone want to own or admit to writing that racist, sexist homophobic crap. Especially after it had so obviously offended so many people.

I don't find those comments funny or cool I don't find the fact that you wanted to own it as funny or cool and now that the heat is on I don't find it funny or cool that you no longer want to own it.

And just for the record I don't want to fight with you, but you have pushed me into a position where I can not be friends with you. You have segregated me out (with alot of other people) ie by making (or if you didn't write thinking it was funny to own) derogatory comments about women. Now the way I see it is to accept you in my life as a friend I have to accept the fact that you think of me in a lowly fashion. In other words I have to think lowly enough of myself to accept your behaviour in order to maintain the friendship, which I am not prepared to do. Also I hold my friends in high esteem which I can no longer do with you knowing you think that way about women, gays and blacks (or thought it was funny to own such comments).

Finally I personally do not want to be seen in anyway as supporting any of these hateful views.
