Overriding a password on a locked PC

A colleague of mine accidentally password protected her laptop. She supposedly has no idea how she did it, but doesn't know the username or password she used.

Any tips on how to override that or reset it?

Tell her to check with your IT to see if they have an override. Mine does cause they dont trust us.

Depending on what OS she has. If she has Windows XP she could try to log in as admin from the safe mode and eliminate the password for her regular user name which will be listed on the users list in the control panel. Most probably she has not set an admin password in the past, so she should be able to log in as admin.
