easyJet flights from Munich to Edinburgh

Looks like easyJet will be offering direct flights from Edinburgh to Munich from April 2007. No details yet on the easyJet website, but the news story is in the Scotsman:

This is going to be some seriously good news for a lot of people. About time they did this route.

route now confirmed on the easyjet website
"The fares start from £21.99 one way including tax. Seats for Munich will be on sale in December when the airline launches its Summer schedule."

That's great! Just yesterday I met a co-worker of mine who paid around 460 GBP for a flight from Edinburgh via Paris.

yeah, back then they didn't get the slots they wanted at Munich, so they pulled the route.

rumour has it that BMI have again applied for slots at MUC for a twice daily service to EDI, and Adria Airways have apparently also applied for slots ... who knows, we could end up with more than just easyjet servicing this route!
the easyjet service to EDI will be a once daily service.

Too bad it will be too late for the 6 nations tournament. You would have thought that a direct flight between twin cities (such as Munich - Edinburgh - Bordeaux) would have been poplular and well sought after routes.

Apparently it was announced on Friday that Easyjet will open up a new route from Edinburgh to Munich starting in April 07. Flights start at 21.99 one way incl tax and will start to book in December when the new summer schedule is published. No details of flight times until then but finally it looks like there might be a direct route home ... finally!!
