Hiya, I've a friend with two new twins. For Christmas I'd like to send her something from Germany. The most useful thing to send would be clothes as they grow out of them fast enough and she has everything else she needs.

Im thinking of something like onesies or bibs (dont know what the queens english word for it) with the German days of the week on it. Does anyone know where I can buy these?

thanks. smile.gif

Don't know about with the days of the week, but Pauline a pregnancy clothes shop on the Hohenzollernstr. has baby grows (onesies I think for N. America) with cute slogans such as Frische Gepresst...

Belly Button has a Days of the Week onesies package. Although, pretty "spendy"($$$)!

Try to check out C&A's and H&M's baby departments.
They have a lot of reasonably priced stuff.

You can buy day-of-the-week bibs at Mueller, for example the one im Tal, back corner of the ground floor. Much cheaper than day-of-the-week "bodys."

www.jacko-o.de also offers onesies with little German sayings on them. I like their onesies, because many of them have adjustable snaps at the crotch (two rows of snaps) so they grow a little bit with the baby.

Karstadt has days of the week bibs for 7,99 the set of seven, Woolworth has them for 5,99. They are not the most beautiful ones that I've seen, but they have them. That's at the Münchner Freiheit stores.

Keep the ideas coming! My old roommate is having a baby and her last name is Freitag so I am hoping to stock up on Freitag goods (or any unique to Germany)... I am also a huge fan of the Haba toys.

I have two sets of days-of-the-week bibs, bought here in Germany -- and both are in English! I've noticed that a lot of baby clothes also have English words/slogans on them. Good luck on your search...
cinzia
True, zard, although if you find baby clothes with incorrect or just strange English, that can be funny, too.

I searched high and low (ok just Stachus and Marienplatz department stores)... but I did end up finding some really cute onesies that are simliar to soccer jerseys and said Deutschland on the front with a flag and Deutschland on the back with #13 (Michael Ballack). They were only 5€ originally 11€.

I also saw a funny one (of course with English on it) that said 'made in Germany'. Probably a little too much info though. Both are 'sanetta' brand.

As for the bibs they were horrible quality. I am surprised as well to see so many English words on their childrens clothes here.

I will keep my eye out and keep you posted if I find anything great. If only I had my screen printing equipment here!
cinzia
Duellema, do you remember where you saw the "Made in Germany" shirt?

And the onesies similar to soccer jerseys, where did you find them???
duellema
I found the onesie with the 'Made in Germany' at Kaufhof at Stachus it was white with orange writing... I did only see one however.

Here are photos of my cute 'jersey' one.

One more option I found... if you are sending a gift to the states you can order things off of cafe press - it is a great website where you can design your own things to say whatever you want including bibs & onesies, then just send them direct.

I went to Kaufhof Status and saw the 'Made in Germany' one.. and then decided to buy two (the only ones left) of the jersey type... Duellema, thanks for telling me where i could find em.. smile.gif
