What are your plans?
Evanna
I was looking forward to a party, but now the party has been cancelled and I need a plan B.

Any ideas? Who else is going to be in Frankfurt at New Year's Eve?
LauKatOD
I went to Bull & Bear last year, for a nice gourmet meal that was fairly cheap...then around 11:30 they opened the place up for a big party. It was a good time, and reasonably priced.
Little Britain
I am definately going to be in Frankfurt for New Year's Eve. After experiencing it last year I simply have to be in Germany again for this, the fireworks and the parties are so cool.

I've got a few uni friends coming over for NYE so I guess we'll probably have some drinks at a mini house party, then go down the Berger Strasse followed by the river for midnight with a couple of bottles of champagne and then no doubt either end up in Sachsenhausen or go to a club in the centre or down the Hanauer Landstrasse.

Looking forward to it already. Any else is welcome to come along/meet up!

What date is it this year?

Have no idea on my plans at the minute, but there's a fair chance I could be up for a Frankfurt new year !!
chickenmadras
Me too...depends on when I decide to come back from Ingerland after Christmas.

If there's a decent crowd gonna be in town for Silvester I'll probably be up for it. New Year in the UK is really shite.

Number 10
Guess it just depends on what happens between now and then really eh...

Keep me in the loop !!
chickenmadras
What's the score then? I'm defo up for spending New Years doing something here instead of in the UK. How many have we got so far that are keen?!
Little Britain
well I am defo here and a few friends are coming over. It was quality last year! Evanna said also I think that she was up for it, along with a couple of others.

so there'll be a few of us around for sure
Number 10
and still a very big probable at this end too!
chickenmadras
@ Number 10 - I am driving back here from the UK on the 29th if you need a ride. I have to drive through Kent so would be easy!
Number 10
hmmmm that's a mighty mighty nice offer of you mate..

christ, customs won't have seen so much slappheadedness in one vehicle since Right Said Fred's last world tour !!
chickenmadras
He he good old Richard Fairbrass eh. Still rocking German radio stations to this day

But yeah if you want give me a shout a bit nearer the time. Won't be room for much luggage but otherwise no probs.
Number 10
Will do mate, how long are you back in the UK for... perhaps you could furnish me with a UK number to reach you on?

I'm really not sure on my movements for xmas either as yet so yeah will definitely have to come back to this nearer the time..
Stefan31
@ Clementine: I haven´ t got any plans for New Year, too. I would like to cook for three or four persons an Asian meal in Dreieich-Sprendlingen, to have some green tea and to discuss what we will do next year privately and professionally. Not wild, but nice . You can contact me under service@7-services.eu

Read you?

Stefan
Evanna
I'm a bit jealous now. No Asian meal for me?
Jonnyboy
@ Eva - maybe he's not very good at Wiener schnitzel...
Evanna
Speaking of Wiener... does any of you guys know how to dance a waltz? It's an Austrian tradition to dance a waltz at midnight on New Year's Eve!
Purple Muffin
This will be almost worth skipping my ski trip to watch ones of the boys dance a waltz!

My bet is on Billy
Number 10
That's a wasted bet !!

Okay... so i reckon i'm definitely going to come now... so let gets a definite plan together !! :-)
dawls_13
Ummm...actually I am not really replying to the new years thing...but I couldnt seem to figure out how to reply to others...
Im actually just trying to figure out who is out there in Frankfurt or Mainz more preferably. I moved out here a few months ago and just trying to make some contact with other english speaking people who are looking to go out for a few beer on the weekend and such!
So...whos out there??
Cheers,
Caitlin

That's funny. I think that's similar to people crying at weddings. I never could
understand why people cry at weddings ? Makes no sense to me
Number 10
I'm not ashamed to admit i shedded a tear at my sister's wedding, mainly after my dad's speech which was really emotional..

My Dad also cried... but I think that was more to do with his bank balance !!
Purple Muffin

Well my best friend got married this year and I cried. We have know each other since we were 6 and many a playtime after school was spent with pillowcases on our heads dreaming about being all grown up. We always said we'd be each others bridesmaids and 22 years later the first one of us got married!

So that made me cry tears of happiness for my friend who had been waiting all her life for that day.
Number 10
pillowcases on our heads

that just made me nearly fall off my chair with laughter :-)))))))

PM yr spot on.. weddings should be one of the most enjoyable day's of a person's life.. i've never not enjoyed a wedding yet, and i guess the main reason for that is cos in on each occasion it's probably the happiest i've ever seen the friends/relatives in question.. tears of happiness are not a thing to be frowned on in my book..

weddings rock no doubt about that..
Lifeisabuffet
I just want to clarify something. I don't shun people who cry at weddings. I just associate weddings with lots of happiness, laughter, partying etc. I also wouldn't shed tears at a happy occasion like a wedding or the birth of a child etc. I do understand that some people express their happiness with crying too.
Evanna

Ok, what about a nice dinner and drinks, then watching the fireworks by the river and then more drinks?

As for the dinner I've just called Destinos and we could still book a table for about 10 people there. They are doing a buffet for about €25,- per person, drinks not included. I haven’t booked the table yet but would have to do it by Monday.

Is the location / price of the dinner ok for those who want to come along? Does anybody know of another location where we could book a table yet? As many restaurants are closed that night it’s not easy to find a place that’s got enough spaces for a bigger group...
Number 10
Cool, Yeah this sounds like a plan's coming together.. It looks like i'm pretty certain to be in Frankfurt now so stick me on the list please
Evanna
Ok, I've booked a table for 10 now - we're having dinner at Destinos at 8 p.m. on NYE. The buffet is €25,- each, drinks not included.

If you have questions or want to join us, please contact Little Britain. I'll be at my parents' and cut off from the internet from Dec 20 to Dec 31.

See you on NYE!
Little Britain
Thanks for booking that Evanna!
Will be fully online over the xmas period whilst back in UK so anyone else who wants to come along just send me a PM or just post on this thread.

If you don't have my mobile number just send me a PM and i'll forward it on to you.

should be a cracking night!
chickenmadras
Looking forward to it Cheers Evanna for arranging food! I know you secretly just want us all to be sober enough to do the waltz so you are making us all have a good meal first

@ LB will give you a shout when I'm back in Germany after Xmas.
BlueBell
Little Britian, Yes I am here on NYE, I dont have any plans for that night and unfortunatley have my friends can not make it to Frankfurt. So if there is a free space available then I would like to join.
Little Britain
cool, I have added you to the list BlueBell
Evanna
I know you secretly just want us all to be sober enough to do the waltz

I'm afraid I know your drinking habits too well to have any hope for you being sober round midnight... But dancing a waltz is more fun when you're already dizzy anyway.
Number 10
So I think we should all limber up for a waltz dancing contest... Eva to judge of course !!
Evanna
You have 13 days to practise dancing the waltz!
Jonnyboy
My money is on LB... am sure its in his chick charming armoury...
chickenmadras

I'd better be on my best behaviour then

Being able to dance has got nothing to do with being sober though...I can't dance because I am a British male. We got an extra gene for sarcasm but we missed out on the one for rhythm
Fwan
Hi!

I never really had a good new year in Germany, I know i am new, but can i come along to anyones party and actually PARTY???
Little Britain
right at current reckoning we have about 9 people who are confirmed up for Destinos for NYE in Frankfurt. If anyone else is up for it then I would suggest that you post here and let me know as the table is booked for 10 people. I will have to let Destinos know if there will be more than 10 of us.

hope everyone is having a nice xmas!
chickenmadras
Nice one mate looking forward to it...should be a top night
imhere4beer
HI! I'm sad I won't be there for New Year's, but have fun

How is geneva, #10??
gusto10
LB- I know its a bit late but can I get in on the action if there is space on the table. Sounds like it is going to be great fun and already have a few rockets ready for the night. Cheers
Jonnyboy
I'll raise a glass of champers (or cheap sparkling wine, whichever is cheaper...) to you all from Aberdeen on NYE.
Lifeisabuffet
We'll be missing you Johnnyboy...
