South Africans living in Hamburg

Hi...Are there any South Africans who are living in Hamburg?So far i am one of a kind in my vicinity and it would be nice to meet up with others?

I knew a Namibian... not sure if he is still around.

If he is from Namibia there is a very good chance he is from a German family...there are even streets named after German people-so strong is the German influence in Namibia! :-) But otherwise anybody who is English is someone i would like to meet...there are a lot of English people who go to the English Theater in Mundsburg but they are not really very interested in making new friends',they seem to have their crowd already..

Pretty sure his family was originally Boer and moved from SA to Namibia. He speaks Afrikaans.

I dated an Afrikaans guy for 2 years...spoke Afrikaans fluently...now i am married to a German and now speak German so much that i can hardly put together a coherent Afrikaans sentence!!! ... so i guess its his luck that he doesn't have to listen to any half baked afrikaans from me!!

I am a South african living in Hamburg. I did a detour in Copenhagen for 10yrs and 1 in Munich. My Afrikaans is sketchy but I am game for brushing it up. Am busy learning German , mainly through my interactions at work. Been here for 4 months so my knowledge of the city is not too good. There is a pretty good south african network in Denmark http://www.sasc.dk/, not so far away to go to for an event or too. They have lots of connections for South African food. What to meet up sometime ? Drink after work or a coffee on the weekend?

Thank you so much for your reply!Thats great to know that...don't worry about the Afrikaans thing-i am 100 % English with a good measure of the Spanish genes thrown in...i háve since coming to HH lost the ability to speak Afrikaans at any decent level as i am always attempting to speak German!
I would love to meet up and maybe we can compare notes on what we know about HH-i have lived here for 9 months now! Look forward to hearing from you!

I will probably up my visits to Finnegan's over the next few weeks to catch the RWC so let me know if any of you will be there.
I promise that tomorrow I will support SA in their battle against Samoa if you promise to support Namibia... be warned - it may get rough (brave or stupid) supporting Nam against IRE in an Irish pub...

Oh, and SA06, the Namibian guy Adi was referring to earlier in this thread is me! It took me over a year to see this thread

Wish I could bring some biltong, I would, but I'm coming over from Russia. Long story. (Good story.) :-)

Hmm, I might try mail ordering some from London. I love stuff like Biltong and Beef Jerky - can't get enough of it!
